Never Summer rates this an 8 out of 10 on their flex scale and it was very comfortable at pretty much any speed I was able to take it at today, regardless of condition or uneven terrain. It felt very damp. There are inserts between the bindings that create a little bit of stiffness, but once you really begin to press into them, especially at higher speeds, it creates a nice locked in feeling that really puts triple camber in the category of free ride

 Never Summer claims that this is a free ride snowboard.

 It is based off of their lead selling snowboard, the Never Summer Proto.

 It features their triple camber technology.

 Triple camber kind of feels like camber to me.

 You can definitely kind of feel the rocker making it smoother going from edge to edge

 and you can really press into it at higher speeds.

 I would not suggest this for a beginner.

 If you were a beginner, I would look in the right direction of the original Proto that

 they have in their line or the Proto SL.

 I feel this board is a great one stop shop.

 If you are transitioning, this is very much an intermediate to expert board.

 If you are looking to dabble a little bit more so towards expert, if you're riding

 on the East Coast or even like the Pacific Northwest where the conditions were questionable,

 this is kind of a great Swiss Army knife to kind of handle it all.

 And I don't think you'll be disappointed with this jack of all trades.

 I ride a NS Swift Split for deep pow days and it slays and floats like a dream. Sometimes the uphill is meh but once you master the uphill technique it’s just fine.

 Alright let's start off talking about the flex, I'd say it's definitely going to be on the stiffer side of medium getting quite stiff and the personality is going to be more on the aggressive side of the spectrum, it's a very powerful snowboard, the feel kind of reminds me of the Proto Ultra but in a directional shape. This is going to be a very energetic snowboard as well, pretty much any tension you're able to load up in this board it's going to give right back, it's going to offer a lot of pop, it's going to have a very snappy feel to it and when it comes to butters and flat ground type tricks you are going to be working against that stiffer flex and the additives in this snowboard to get any kind of presses going so it's going to be more challenging to find those balance points and it does have a very precise feel to it so I'd be paying close attention to your edges for that kind of stuff to make sure you're not catching up and generally it's not going to be the most butter friendly just because of how aggressive and how precise this board is. This is going to be a very energetic snowboard as well, pretty much any tension you're able to load up in this board it's going to give right back, it's going to offer a lot of pop, it's going to have a very snappy feel to it and when it comes to butters and flat ground type tricks you are going to be working against that stiffer flex and the additives in this snowboard to get any kind of presses going so it's going to be more challenging to find those balance points and it does have a very precise feel to it so I'd be paying close attention to your edges for that kind of stuff to make sure you're not catching up and generally it's not going to be the most butter friendly just because of how aggressive and how precise this board is. I also want to talk about the carving experience on the Proto FR and there's two specs I want to highlight, first is the waist width so at a 160 you're going to get a 25

 There's also multiple dampening technologies built into this snowboard to help smooth out the ride and iron out any chatter or vibrations you might get as well as a sintered base which is known to be a higher end base material that's harder, faster and more durable compared to an extruded base but you do want to make sure to wax it regularly to maintain a nice fast glide out there. And that's going to be it for a quick tech breakdown, let's get into how this board feels out on snow. Testing Never Summers TRIPLE CAMBER | Proto FR Snowboard Review

 Hey what's up everyone TJ here, we're out at Mammoth Mountain with Snowboard Mag doing

 a free ride board test and today we're checking out the NeverSummer Proto FR.

 I'm going to go through all the tech you're going to find in this board, I'll share some

 feedback on how it's feeling out on snow and if you want to read even more details you

 Alright for reference before we jump into the tech, I'm 5'10 I weigh around 155 lbs

 So the Proto FR is going to be a free ride and all mountain focused snowboard on the

 NeverSummer lineup, it does have a directional design so you're going to get a directional

 outline in this snowboard with a slightly longer nose than tail outside the front contact

 points giving you more surface area up front as well as a slight taper, you're going to

 get a 5mm taper in the snowboard so the tail is a little bit more narrow than the nose
