I bought this to make life easier along with the other Orbi Router and Satellite as well as a nighthawk modem.  Since my internet was spotty in my large home I thought this would be my solution.  Well it is worse.

 But the add on satellite should be less than the router/satellite system. Not sure why netgear is doing this to its customers. I almost feel like just selling my current system and going with a different brand.

Okay - I have purchased the router and satellite combo a few months ago due to a lot of good recommendations and reviews by others. I haven't had a chance to set it up due to extremely busy life.  Make it work first, THEN get the users to register. Capiche?  2) The firmware update appears to be broken. The automatic checks come back with "service unreachable" -- really, Netgear, it's your OWN auto-update service! -- and the manual updates REFUSE to recognize their own firmware ZIP files as valid. And yes, I tried to apply the satellite firmware update first, and yes it was the latest, and yes the file was good, and yes I followed the steps in your release notes, and yes I tried multiple times

 Deadzones? Gone. Amazing quality and bandwidth? It brings it in spades. This thing just rocks. Stop suffering with crummy wifi routers and just do it, you'll be kicking yourself for not having done it sooner

 Do yourself a favor and just skip the registration step, go to 192.168.1.1, login as admin, and set it up yourself

I bought thisabout 4 months ago to bypass the Verizon router.  Very easy to set up but except for running speed tests, I can't tell a difference.  The satellite doesn't seem to help any.  My phone seems to take longer to load apps than before and we have had some buffering on streaming tv for the first time in years though not a lot

 First I I had to move the router to where the DSL comes in, which is on one end of my home on the ground level. I didn't want to do a lot of rewiring, but with the router plus two satellites, it did leave a dead spot on ground floor on the other end of house. I had to move my home security hub to a new location and I still have a dead spot in the corner at one end of the ground floor. I thought about buying an add-on satellite, but the regular Orbi add on is about 250 and the plug in is around 190 USD

 Fixes the issue where IPv6 devices on the guest network can access the Orbi router’s web GUI. Includes security fixes for the following security vulnerabilities:PSV-2016-0133, PSV-2017-0607, PSV-2017-0615, PSV-2017-0736, PSV-2017-2190  So an update that supposedly fixes disconnect issues (which I never experienced) does the opposite and starts causing them instead. Thank you Netgear for breaking my perfectly wonderful wifi system. Apparently their engineering team has been spending most of their time introducing new Orbi devices and not spending much time refining their current firmware

 I waited about 10 minutes and it was still stuck, I tried again and the same thing happened, finally I gave up and called Netgear’s support.  Trying to navigate to NetGear’s support was another fun challenge, they seem to hide any way to contact phone support on their main website. They also want you to take a picture of your receipt that you bought the unit to get to support. I wasn’t having any of that, I was already getting fed up that this supposedly super easy Orbi was already giving me problems

I've currently got a Netgear Nighthawk RAX45 which is... OK... but there's various weird issues with it. I'm getting tired of the issues with consumer-grade equipment. 

As an upgrade, I've preordered a Firewalla Gold Plus (advanced router with four 2.5Gbps ports), and I'd like to upgrade to a prosumer Wi-Fi access point. Happy to spend a bit more to get a good one.

I'm currently living in a 980 square foot apartment but eventually I'll move into a 2500+ square foot house. Currently I've got Comcast Gigabit Plus (1200Mbps overprovisioned as ~1400Mbps down, 35Mbps  overprovisioned as ~42Mbps up) but I may have 2Gbps symmetric fiber internet in the future.

I'm looking for the following:

- Something that mostly "just works"
- Supports PoE
- Wi-Fi 6, as most of my devices support it
- Ability to map SSIDs to VLANs, so that I can have IoT devices on a separate VLAN
- Ideally a 2.5GbE (or above) uplink port

I'm considering the following:

- TP-Link EAP670. I've had consumer-grade TP-Link equipment in the past and haven't had any issues with them. I know this particular one is quite c h o n k y though, and I've heard issues about TP-Link not providing firmware updates for more than a few years after launch.
- Grandstream GWN7664. This seems to have generally positive reception on Reddit and seem to have good specs, but I can't find many reviews of it. I did watch one review on YouTube and noticed various typos in their UI which makes me wonder about their QA processes
- Aruba Instant On AP22 or AP25. I haven't heard bad things about Aruba, and my employer uses their higher-end access points and has had a good experience with them.
- Not really a fan of Netgear so I'm not considering their products

The other thing I thought of was buying one of the cheaper, slimmer TP-Links now (like the EAP610) and upgrade to the EAP680E or EAP690E once they're available (which will have quad-band AX11000 and 6GHz Wifi 6 + 6E with a 10Gbps Ethernet port).

Any opinions on any of these APs, or a suggestion for a different/better one?

Looking for prosumer WAP: TP-Link Omada, Grandstream, Aruba, or something else?

  Compared to other products, I'd say Ruckus' strength lies in their actual radio tech and the client connectivity experience (BeamFlex+, ChannelFly, etc.), as opposed to having slick software (ie. UniFi) or a more polished vertical hardware stack (HPE Aruba, Meraki). So putting aside fancier dashboards and cloud control panels, Ruckus is tough to beat when it comes to providing the best physical connection possible in *most* scenarios

Best in class for high-interference/high-density, plus 802.11r/k/v that actually works.

 I'm pretty sure their tech support just enjoys stringing people along for as long as possible for their own amusement. If WiFi calling from your cell phone through your access point is an import feature, do not buy these!  UPDATE: I'm now up to 20 messages back and forth, and finally got contacted by an engineer. He verified these units do not support WiFi Calling. He said WiFi Calling is supposed to be enabled on the next firmware version, 200
