Compatibility

After one year still good, but read before buying if you have older devices and printers

Will not allow WiFi calling, horrible customer service

I'm pretty sure their tech support just enjoys stringing people along for as long as possible for their own amusement. If WiFi calling from your cell phone through your access point is an import feature, do not buy these! UPDATE: I'm now up to 20 messages back and forth, and finally got contacted by an engineer. He verified these units do not support WiFi Calling. He said WiFi Calling is supposed to be enabled on the next firmware version, 200

Ruckus stuff just works. Unleashed can be configured from a web browser without java, unlike ubiquiti.

Signal Strength

The Orbi absolutely CRUSHES every router I've ever owned. Period. (But the firmware update process appears to be broken.)

I've been through one wifi router after another, including Linksys, Netgear, and most recently the Apple AirPort Extreme, but none of them would provide me adequate signal even in the next room. Enter Orbi. WHOA. I picked up the two unit system (one router and one satellite), and once I got it working, the results were ridiculously amazing

Compared to other products, I'd say Ruckus' strength lies in their actual radio tech and the client connectivity experience (BeamFlex+, ChannelFly, etc.), as opposed to having slick software (ie. UniFi) or a more polished vertical hardware stack (HPE Aruba, Meraki). So putting aside fancier dashboards and cloud control panels, Ruckus is tough to beat when it comes to providing the best physical connection possible in *most* scenarios

RBK50 so far so good, except for the app

Depending on the day and how heavily our household's wifi users access the internet, Pi-hole blocks 3.5% to 6% of RBK50's queries. A quarter to a third of all DNS queries are cached, which reduces DNS lookup times anywhere from 30ms to 220ms down to 2ms or less. The time it took me to configure Pi-hole will be probably be saved in faster internet experiences by our household users in a couple of months
