Mystery Ranch Tower 47 vs Sea to Summit Hydraulic Dry Pack - 120L

  • Great for a day pack or two
  • Webbing straps for securing a stick clip
  • Top pocket
  • All the pockets
  • Lightweight
  • Great for 3 days of gear
  • Clips securely to the canoe
  • Lots of room for a small tent, sleeping bag, clothes, shoes and more
  • Left shoulder adjustment wouldn't hold
  • Product is overpriced

Mystery Ranch Tower 47
New travel backpack from Mountain Hardware
The design reminds me of Black Diamond's Transit series packs (the Creek Transit, Creek Mandate, and Street Creek), except that BD's packs are smaller (20-32 liters). I'm also reminded of the Mystery Ranch Tower 47, which wasn't designed for travel (and doesn't have a laptop compartment) but is a \*much\* better pack. If I wanted a travel pack I needed to check, the Tower 47 would be on my short list.

This is a nice pack but it's huge
This is a nice pack but it's huge. I think it should be a little smaller but a nice pack.

Carry-on

Mystery Ranch Tower 47
definitely worth it
Haven't found anything I don't like about the pack, except that I am skinny so the straps are kind of long lol. I've taken it on 3-4 climbing trips now. I love the webbing straps which can secure a stick clip really well, the side handle while I'm at the air port, the top pocket, all the pocket stas...

Sea to Summit Hydraulic Dry Pack - 120L
Disappointed
I purchased the 120l bag for a boundary waters trip. I like that it had the straps and waist pad so I could have my hands free.
During the trip, the hooks for the shoulder straps slid off multiple times during the trip. Also, the bag is very tall making it a pain to retrieve items from the bottom...

For the price, buy a boundary Waters pack
I bought this pack in 2017 expecting to get a lot of years out of it like some of the boundary water packs I have bought before. I do a lot of canoeing so I always use large waterproof packs. Cons: My first issue with this pack is that the straps where they connect to the bag seem to come off easily...

Hiking

Mystery Ranch Tower 47
Packs great!
I bought this because my old pack was a bomb pack I had for 15 years. This feels exactly the same but lighter. The obvious upgrade/advantage is this pack is perfectly thought out to be a climbing specific pack. I put it through a very long and steep approach today and it performed beautifully.

Beach hike through caves
I went on a camping trip recently at the northern most tip of okinawa. I parked my car about 1.5 miles away from the secluded beach i was planning on camping at. I packed a 4 person tent, 2 camp chairs, a tarp, and various camping items enough for two nights by the time i was done it was packed to a...

Comfort

Mystery Ranch Tower 47
Best comfort, organization and build quality
I’m pleasantly shocked with my new forever climbing pack! Surprisingly, there are not many reviews to be found about this amazing pack; however, after much research (with a fine toothed comb), I narrowed down my search to this ultimate climbing mule pack / haul bag / crag pack (and more?) -
