I’ve used this and a Shure SM57 next to each other and the similarities in quality was astounding. For either vocals and podcast/streaming, the $100 SM57 is a great pick if you like dynamic mics and don’t wanna break the bank on the SM7B. Also make sure your interface has a decent pre amp if you want it to get enough gain for your use case. My Motu M4 will give dynamic mics enough power on its own, but using a dedicated pre like a Cloudlifter or Art Pro MPA will get you much better results

I've been using a MOTU M2 as a DAC, and it sounds just as good as my old Modius did, for a much lower price, not to mention the enormous amount of features you get with that. Basically, no, they don't sound any different. Unless the DAC is deliberately distorting the sound for some reason or nonfunctional, you won't hear a difference.

like finger noise of the acoustic guitar is so clear. Dont settle for less. Dont waste your money buying lesser specs interface. Upgrade to this one

However, the price point for this interface should be $150 not $229 because it's just ok. No wow factors here.

The interface showed rising and falling green bars on its LCD screen, which meant it was picking up my mic, but nothing was getting through to Discord or any other software I used. Switching the sample rate and buffer size didn't work and neither did restarting the MOTU software. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable which worked for a few hours before the same problem occurred. Switching to a different USB port seemed to work better, and I didn't have any more problems that night

I couldn't reliably get MIDI working with my 1st Motu M4. Amazon sent me a 2nd, which seemed to work well at 1st, but then stopped working as well. Dear Motu, Nice little box, but please get your MIDI working more reliably.

Get a decent audio interface and don’t look back to gaming brands. Stop the circle of buying a shitty gaming headset every 2 years and invest once in a decent setup. I used to buy expensive headsets every 1-2 years and never was satisfied. Now I run Sennheiser HD660S headphones, a Shure SM7B Mic and the MOTU M4 interface for years, and it’s so much better
