I am in charge of procuring and maintaining walkie talkies at my farm for manager communication. I have purchased at least a dozen walkies of four different models since I started 4 years ago, and these are second-worst. We used to use the Motorola MT350R (4-5 stars) until they stopped making them in 2018 or so, and they were generally the best. None of our walkies last that long due to field use, mud/iron filings getting stuck to the speaker, or getting run over or lost, but the MT350Rs worked well enough

  I'm still on the lookout for a good walkie talkie that reliably does what I need it to...

Quieter than older models, has too many quirks not mentioned in the manual

 The testing area covered a wide range in an urban setting with minimal tree or building obstruction (It isn't he PNW so there aren't many heavy wooded areas). We were able to easily pick one another up and the only disruption or downside was the fact that many many people are using the same frequencies and channels and this cuts off or interrupts communication. I didn't expect there to be so many people using the CB channels so we just need to find a channel that we can use.  The package just arrived today for the T600 Talkabout Radios so this is my preliminary review based on what I see out of the box

Update: 2/16/18 We tested out the range of the units. My husband took his with him on a mountain biking trail relatively close by our house near the Wasatch Front. I stayed home and we were able to pick one another up clearly on the low frequency. Tested at distances of 2 miles, 4 miles, and 7 miles with minimal difficulty

Manufacturing Improvement on the Whistle/Belt clip is needed

  The Unacceptable (or my needs at least): The receiver often misses one-word transmissions. Like when your spotter says "Stop" as they're guiding you backing up the trailer. You'll hear only a "chick" from the squelch opening too slowly or even nothing at all. Our much cheaper and older Motorola TalkAbout radios also had this issue but not as bad

 The battery life is not too bad. My shift is 8:30 AM-3:30 PM. At the end of the day the battery is consistently at 1/2. Setting up the radios to receive NOAA weather alerts was a little confusing but the radios are very easy to use

I can't recommend these radios

 The front side nicely tells you all those silly safety rules we have all seen so many times, plus some FCC drivel and instructions on how to put the batteries in, etc. The last inch of the first page gets to the meat: "Selecting the Channel". Turn the page over and apparently that action of flipping the page is supposed to cause Scotty to transport you to France with an "I now speak French implant". Unfortunately neither the beaming to France nor the French language implant worked on me: I still can't speak (or, more importantly, read) French

Different coloration designs are available, but it was disappointing to see gender-specific naming in the product title &#40;i.e., the blue model is titled "Boys Walkie Talkie"&#41;. If you are looking to test-drive walkie talkie technology, or want to build up to the more expensive two-way radios out there, then the Selieve Walkie Talkie is a good candidate.

 We decided to test it out to see how far it would actually reach. I left my driveway in my car and didn't make it very far down our road (less than 1/4 mile) when I wasn't able to hear my daughter anymore. I don't really care about that part since that's really not why I bought them. The only reason I had an issue was due to false advertising
