Midland X-Talker T10 vs Motorola Talkabout T600 H20

I gave the other car that was following us down to Florida the other two-way radio. On way down the radios had horrible reception when we got about a hundred yards away from each other. Even when we got down towards Southern Alabama and Florida where it was all flat ground through radio still struggled to keep reception. I could see the other vehicle near me probably 75 80 yards back and they could not pick up on any of my radio traffic

The Unacceptable (or my needs at least): The receiver often misses one-word transmissions. Like when your spotter says "Stop" as they're guiding you backing up the trailer. You'll hear only a "chick" from the squelch opening too slowly or even nothing at all. Our much cheaper and older Motorola TalkAbout radios also had this issue but not as bad

Very clear sound. For heavy work I do not recommend it, the battery does not support many days.

I am in charge of procuring and maintaining walkie talkies at my farm for manager communication. I have purchased at least a dozen walkies of four different models since I started 4 years ago, and these are second-worst. We used to use the Motorola MT350R (4-5 stars) until they stopped making them in 2018 or so, and they were generally the best. None of our walkies last that long due to field use, mud/iron filings getting stuck to the speaker, or getting run over or lost, but the MT350Rs worked well enough

The battery life is not too bad. My shift is 8:30 AM-3:30 PM. At the end of the day the battery is consistently at 1/2. Setting up the radios to receive NOAA weather alerts was a little confusing but the radios are very easy to use

Hills you will loose communication. For close range these are great, hunting, fishing, working in homes with others. Can’t beat $30

Update: 2/16/18 We tested out the range of the units. My husband took his with him on a mountain biking trail relatively close by our house near the Wasatch Front. I stayed home and we were able to pick one another up clearly on the low frequency. Tested at distances of 2 miles, 4 miles, and 7 miles with minimal difficulty

We keep the volume set quite low to keep from alarming the other shoppers. Mind you, there's no privacy using these, so there's that.

g., they are pretty fuzzy when talking to someone on the other side of mountain) and the battery life is honestly pretty poor (one day life in cold weather). Lastly, the max volume is simply too low to have in your pocket while snowboarding. I can't hear it over the crunching of snow unless it's clipped to the top of my coat next to my chin/ear
