Monopoly Deal is an excellent card game and decidedly not the same as its parent board game. It's fun and competitive without the periods of boredom or drawn-out play time that its board game counterpart is known for. While irreverent games can be fun in the right crowd, we love that Monopoly Deal is a family-friendly game that doesn't need to rely on shock value to be fun. Deal can be played with two players for a fun cozy game night with your partner, though we find 4-5 player games to be more entertaining. Some of our testers have played this game for years and plan to keep doing so, which speaks to its potential to keep bringing the fun, unlike some other one-and-done games. The game itself easily fits in a pocket for transportation to any place you imagine you might want some entertainment. Best of all, this is the least expensive game that we tested and the most appealing.
Monopoly Deal generally takes new players a few games to fully understand gameplay, but after that, we find players are good to go. There are some rules that are unclear, which means there is room for interpretation that may not be everyone's cup of tea. Also, it is not deeply strategic, as there are definite luck of the draw aspects to this game. However, this means that older and younger audiences can generally enjoy playing the game together, though we expect players younger than eight may not be able to play competitively. Our testers have played a lot of card games, and we continue to love this game. Its creative design, entertainment value, and replayability make it an awesome game for a wide range of players.

I Would recommend Monopoly Deal over the original Monopoly Board Game First of all, Monopoly Deal is less luck based and plays have a greater sense of control over their fate and success in the game. The power of the card draw and the variety of action cards means that in this version of Monopoly players have a greater sense of control and ownership and the decisions and the choices that they make that the game will propel them forward and hopefully gain them a victory

 She's bright, but I thought that was a good testament to the fact that it's not hard to learn. Oh, and it's one of those games that is a mix of luck and strategy, so the kids can easily beat me if the cards are right, making it a nice chance for anyone to come away a winner.

 At first the instructions seem a bit daunting (I have little patience for reading through long directions, probably because someone is always talking to me while I'm doing it), but we managed to learn and play an entire game in less than 30 minutes while another child took a whole piano lesson, so that's not really that bad. It's not particularly similar to monopoly, but that's not a bad thing because while I like monopoly, it's pretty complex to really play right, and it obviously can take forever. It took me a few minutes to really appreciate the point of the game and all the rules, but now that I've played a dozen times, I'd put it at the top of my list of favorite games. My seven year old wanted to play the first day we got it, but I was tired and didn't want to explain the directions, so I made her watch the 10 year old play with me, and she literally needed almost no help when I played with her next

Do not recommend. It might be salvageable as a cooperative game if I can come up with some rules. I only brought 4-5 games for memorial day weekend. I had the opposite problem this time, didn’t get to play some of my favorites that I brought along - Monopoly Deal

What Did You Play This Week? - (July 26, 2021)

  It plays fast, 15-30 minutes, no counting, rules are fun...and what I enjoy most is that it can be far more cutthroat and competitive

 For example: Pass Go, Forced Deal, Sly Deal, Deal Breaker...  Although without doing that the game can still be much fun and swing wildy, making for exciting victories or defeats

 Even if one person appears to be dominating with bank and properties. You can draw a Deal Breaker and steal a whole property and then draw a card that completes your 3rd and win just like that.  Keep your bank full and build your properties fast.  This is alot of fun and I don't think we'll ever go back to a full board version of Monopoly

 Yet we get tired of the tedious amount of time and counting and all of the unnecessary mundane things that must be done to play the full game.  Monopoly Deal eliminates all of that.  It plays fast, 15-30 minutes, no counting, rules are fun.
