Disappointing "replacement" for GAME ONE...

Initial impression: These were meant to be an upgrade to a pair of Plantronics Gamecom 377's I have been using for years. Sound was run through and Realtek supreme FX S1220A chip.  The Plantronics have been a great headset and only the scratchiness on the volume control has been a weak point.  For the Sennheiser's right off the bat are noticeably more comfortable on the head, in a gaming headset that is critical

 The Plantronics set has a great mic (one of their historical strong points). I tend to be more baritone vocally and no one could tell the difference between mics so you wont come across tinny or sounding like a prepubescent screechy kid. The open back design makes it easy to hear the world around you, so if you have kids, a significant other who tends to talk at you when you are using your headset or sneak up and spook ya you will appreciate these, and you can clearly hear not the muffled type. Conversations while leaving the headset on are easily doable

 Picks across the strings on a guitar and stick to cymbal contact and even amplifier gain feedback are clear and distinguishable. Vocals are clear and each artists distinct tone qualities come through without distortion or muddy characteristics masking things. Dual purpose for music listening or video conference should be enjoyable on these.  In gaming performance with modern games as the higher frequencies of foot steps are where it's at the lack of forceful bottom end should be no issue

 Powerful worked good for most listening, but extreme was needed to extract maximum dynamic range from this set. The sound is full, however the low end output is less than the Plantronics. Although the lower registers are audible they are not as forceful. So if that is your taste you may not be happy with these for the price paid

Kindof an upgrade

 Microphone quality is excellent. But my reasoning for writing a review is the open back vs closed back.  I'm not an audiophile so I'm gonna describe it like this: take a "regular" set of headphones and lay them on your desk. Turn on your game/music and then set the volume to where you normally have it

  To me it feels more "natural", almost like a pair of good speakers are close to me vs a normal headphone that is pumping sound directly into my ear. Hard to explain but now that I've experienced open back for work meetings and gaming, I can't use regular headphones unless I have to. I like hearing if my son is messing with my office door or if my wife is busy and there's a knock at the door. I'm not on an island

 These aren't going to bass you out of existence or provide an ounce of sound isolation. That isn't what these do. These are made for someone who wants excellent sound quality, can't or won't use speakers, and wants to stay aware of their surroundings. If that you, these are 100% worth the cost (break them in)

Glad I bought these

First of all, this is the first headset where people have regularly told me that I sound like a podcaster. It's crazy, but people have told me that they just like listening to the sound of my voice because it's so clear (never had that happen in a decade of online gaming, now I get it all the time).  I've bought plenty of $15 headsets, $50 headsets, and $100 headsets and I can't believe how much better these are than anything I've ever used. First, the background noise cancellation is top knotch

Honestly from how many people i saw raving about the PC37x, I thought I was going to be blown away by the quality of sound, however, it was quite underwhelming. My Turtle Beach Stealth 600 that I got for half the price sound better and have way more control and features.  The PC37x are comfortable to wear even for long periods of time. They sound decent

 It maxes out at about 70% of what my Turtle Beach headset can go. Sure, this is a good product, but I would suggest many other headsets that sound better over all, have a decent mic, more features and would still be cheaper than this PC37x. A lot of their headphones have a colorful design or customizable RGB lighting so that you can show your flair. Many headphones are also compatible with Razer Synapse software, which offers features like a graphic EQ, mic level, and surround support. Although they mostly retail over-ear headphones designed with gamers in mind, they offer a couple of more casual-use truly wireless in-ears and earbuds. However, they don't perform as well as their over-ear counterparts and active features like noise cancelling fall short compared to competitor brands.

The Razer BlackShark V2 are the best Razer headphones that we've tested. These comfortable wired gaming headphones come with a USB soundcard so that you can save customization changes made in their companion software. Out of the box, they have a decently neutral sound profile with a touch of extra boom, which can help emphasize sound effects while you game.  And it was a tuning that I thought was better suited for gaming, and was honestly also very good for just regular music listening. So while you may be happy with how these sounds stock, I definitely think it's worthwhile to play around with the available EQ settings. If you're interested in trying out my EQ preset for these, I'll leave the filter adjustments I used in the description down below. More important than tuning and tonality for gaming though, is the headset's soundstage and imaging capabilities, and in this regard, I feel as though the Black Shark actually delivers better performance than the Arctis 7

 Now last thing I wanted to talk about on the note of soundstage is the THX Spatial Audio Surround Sound that is available for this headset when you download the Synapse software. And in my experience, I have to say that I find the implementation to be very poor. Enabling the surround sound drastically changes the headphone's tonality, and while it does kind of help in creating a more expansive audio environment, I experienced a sort of virtual channel imbalance that made the center channel way more prominent than the left or right channels, which made the imaging really unreliable and kind of threw directional accuracy out the window. Regardless of how I set up the spatial audio in Synapse, so my suggestion is to just keep the headset in stereo mode, as I found it to be a lot more reliable in game when using that setting

 This is a recording of the BlackShark V2 Pro's microphone going straight into Premiere Pro, still nasally sounding like most wireless headphone mics, but the well-defined treble range and the aggressive low-end cut do help in making my voice cut through the mix with minimal plosives. I'm currently typing on my drop alt with silver speed switches, so hopefully that gives you an idea of how much sound this microphone blocks out. Out of the box, the stock tuning was definitely on the dark side with boosted mid-bass and really recessed upper mids and mid treble that could occlude the sound of things like footsteps, weapon reloads, or even character callouts, so there was really quite a bit more of an emphasis in the audio's boomy undertones, which didn't make them too hard to game in, but it definitely didn't do the Black Shark any favors when it came to highlighting the sound cues that I would consider to be crucial for online competitive games. That being said though, this was something that was easily resolved simply using the EQ settings in Synapse, which allowed me to get a frequency response out of the Black Shark that, for my taste and preferences, was better than the one I got for the Arctis 7, and that's a headset I liked and recommended

 As for comfort, I think that the BlackShark V2 Pro does a very good job at creating a comfortable fit. The chassis is very lightweight with low clamp force and even distribution across the headband and earpads. Something that particularly stood out to me is that the material used to wrap the earpads and underside of the headband was ultra breathable and didn't get hot after long listening sessions, but it wasn't scratchy either like I've experienced on other headphones using a similar weave or fabric. Now, one thing I'd like to mention is that unfortunately the pads aren't that deep, so some users' ears will likely come in contact with the driver and it's something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to that type of stuff

 If I were taking a long flight somewhere, I'd probably take the XM4's for their superior ANC and ability to fold up into a small case. But for anything else, I'd probably go with the Portals, at least so far.

\- Mic quality: Personally, this is the least important part of these, since I play mostly single player games, but it's a big concern for others. The Portals do not have a boom mic, they use beamforming from several mics placed on either side. I had my wife and daughter put them on, we switched phones, and we called each other. They both sounded fine

 Combine that with the impressive lightness, clamping force that isn't too tight, and I forget I'm wearing these. VERY comfortable.

 The XM4's have superior ANC but I much prefer the overall sound of the Portals. The Razers are typical Razer, decent sound and build, but nothing that stands out. What I like about the Portals is that they're both a great gaming headset AND a great music headphone. And they don't look gamer-y at all, they look very elegant and I'd wear them anywhere

 I believe this is one of the best headsets on the market today, given the price point. I think someone who's considering it as a serious gamer or an esports enthusiast that doesn't want to get into the price range of the Astro A40 or A50s or the Steelseries Arctis Pro. The Razer Black Shark V2 Pro is a perfect place, but that's just my opinion.  I found the overall fit was comfortable, clamping was light, and I had no issues wearing them for long sessions. You also get some controls on the left ear cup, which includes a volume knob, two 3.5 millimeter cable jacks for wired connections, and a detachable mic, a Usb charging port, a microphone mute button, and a power button. You get a two and a half gigahertz dongle out of the box, so connection couldn't be easier

 I found that the Razer Triforce Titanium 50 millimeter drivers were very powerful and the bass response is excellent with plenty of clarity and presence although it's not a sub bass level, The mid-range was nice too, but the high frequency response wasn't the best I've heard though I thought in game sound and left right panning was outstanding and this gave me a good sense of the space and enhanced my esports experience, especially with the Thx enabled. And you'll find that these are good for music too, thanks to the wide frequency response range. This also features a 9.9 millimeter Hyper Clear super cardioid microphone, which is a significant improvement over the predecessor of the Black Shark V2

 super stinking plush. You got that nice sports material on the outside. very very soft and plush inside. pleather line so you kind of lock that sound in right there for you

 The probably closest similarity to these right now are the Logitech G Pro X Wireless I believe if I'm thinking correctly, those came in at 199. But as far as features to sound and everything, they're both in line right here. As far as the Eq adjustment uh, the mic adjustment and everything, I'd put both of these in line right there. But the one thing that kept coming to my mind again, as far as many of these other headsets I've been testing lately, at 180 bucks, there's one big thing I would have loved to see on this headset and that is the option for bluetooth as well

But I like having that extra touch of bluetooth. so you got your wireless and your bluetooth just like on the 700 Gen Twos we just tested right. You had your wireless and then you also had the bluetooth option
