Not that you need much grip because the blades are so sharp that you can pierce whatever you are working on. I shaved meat so thin with the knife that you could almost see right through it. I can see that I made a very worthwhile investment that will last me a lifetime. I love these knives and they make cooking a lot of fun

The 6" slicing knife is good to slice through cheese, sandwiches, fruits, and practically anything that's on your cutting board, if you're not using the chef's knife. The 10" bread knife is perfect for slicing through full loaves. Though it's never happened, sometimes I'm afraid it will saw through the bread into the cutting board underneath. The paring knife, though a bit large (4"), also fits well in the hand and does its job very well

The set is an awesome value for the price. The knives don’t come too sharp but can easily be sharpen with the sharpener on the block!

The Germans should adopt something similar for their knives! If you use them as I do, you will want to get a good sharpener. Be aware that they have the 15 degree Asian edge (my German steel knives tend to have the 20 degree blades) so I got the Chefs Choice Diamond Hone 463 Asian sharpener that will quickly restore the razor sharpness. I must also say that their price when compared to the German knives is amazing. This set's price is about what I spent for one of the German 10 inch chefs knife
