Keycaps Profile Pros and Cons

First time owning a mechanical keyboard and I definitely love it. Currently modding it and I would just like to ask y’all what type of keycap profile you recommend? I’m currently using an RK G68 with stock OEM profile keycaps and I actually like them. But I just want to try other profiles for comparison.

Quality

Not so worthy successor

The very first impression is positive, it has a good overall feel to it. l it looks good (important to me in my home studio where the look is a big thing). It feels solid, no plasticky and the keys seem to be well positioned and ergonomic.

Design

WARNING for Mechanical keyboard users: MX Keys is annoyingly LOW, otherwise a great keyboard.

It's basically free. - Packaging minimal yet very classy, well done. - Board looks and feels great, has a sort of subdued yet elite appearance, looks great in office or home setting. If you aren't one of those RGB nerds you will love it

The letters don’t light up

What’s the use of the back lights if the letters don’t light up in a dark room?? I bought it cause I love working in the dark at nights, unfortunately the lights don’t reflect on the letters, they are all black at night Overall good design, has a nice weight to it but the keys are terrible

Build Quality

So gamers, if you're looking for function, speed and sturdiness, rather than bling, this keyboard is the bomb.

Nice keyboard overall, but 2.4 range ruins it for me.

I like the build and feel of the keyboard. The lighting is even pretty cool although gimmicky. Nice mechanical keyboard and the ability to change out keys is great. I typed some as soon as I got it out the package and thought I found the solution to my needs

Software

I am a software engineer and i type alot and care about my function keys. The function keys bar is very difficult to use because there is no space between button groups (most keyboards have space between F4 and F5 and F8 and F9). The function keys are clearly intended to be used as media keys. This keyboard is not for coders and not for gamers

Got my rk g68 this week and found out that software was not really easy to find on this one. Also I was experiencing problems with weird key mappings where FN + 1 wasn't triggering F1 button as expected, that was giving me some troubles because I switch a lot of tty's as part of my work habits in Linux systems and also CS: GO autobuy button was desired a lot.

Backlight

Some glitches but overall decent.

1) Keyboard backlight randomly resets itself so if you like it a certain brightness you will randomly come back and have to figure out where that was. Doesn't seem to fall in line with charging, power cycling, device switching, or anything like that. Just randomly resets to a medium-low level. 2) If you switch devices, and you don't wait whatever unknown period of time it takes for it to finish syncing back to that other device and you press any key, it will often get stuck sending that keystroke non-stop until you power cycle the keyboard

I really wanted to like this keyboard

-- Keycaps are COMPLETELY OPAQUE! The backlight can only show through the cracks effectively making it way less cool and practical since you can no longer see which key is which in the dark, so the backlight is really just there for looks now. (Picture included of what backlit keycaps should like like VS what they look like on this keyboard) -- The RGB lights themselves are obscured by the switch rather than being on top of them (maybe this is a consequence of hot-swappable switches) but this makes the RGB a lot less bright (Picture included) -- Unsightly light leaks on the red keys (Dolche model) that looks kinda bad. (Picture included) -- All the keycaps have a rough "seam"/edge to them where it looks like the injection mold got cut and wasn't sanded down. It's actually kind of sharp and just doesn't feel good when running your fingers along the edges of the keyboard/keys

Price Point

Deceptively Solid and Weighty

This is clearly a case of 'you get what you pay for' where spending a little extra is totally worth it.

Great Board, Bluetooth sucks.

If you just want a good budget board for you're desktop, this is it. Don't get for wireless capabilities.
