For the record most other llbean products fit me well in an xl tall and xxl tall is oversized unwearably large, but I wanted a roomy fit to use as a shell over a puffer. 

Shrunken! Less substantial!

My old Pathfinder died after many years of service and I wanted to replace it with its clone. I'm a 5' 10" tall woman, so LL Bean's women's sizes are too small. My old Pathfinder was a men's S and fit well through the shoulders and hips. The new one is smaller, despite being sold as the same size, and is now too small for me around the hips

I'll probably keep it because there aren't many truly waterproof jackets out there for tall women, but I'm disappointed.

Smaller than in the past

  You can spend less money for cheaper/alternative materials or you can buy something that will last over 30 years.  Job well done LLBean.

RAB vital wind jacket - a review

 Hey guys, Ken here from BackpackinLite and today I'm going to talk about the RAB VITAL wind jacket.

 If you look at my, all of my wind jackets actually, they've got duct tape all over them just where I've been

 or trying to fix it. So I decided to give the RAB VITAL a chance because it had a hoodie, it had a

 little bit more robust materials. So it had a little bit more robust materials. Now the reason

 I was against kind of using it in the beginning is because it was heavier than my other wind jackets.

 This one I think weighs about 160 grams for the extra large and considering my other wind jackets

 weigh around 100 grams or a little less, I mean it's not a whole lot of weight difference

 but it was enough to where I you know kind of stood off on it. But I said okay I'll give it a

 try. It's got a hoodie, I'm happy with that. A little bit more robust materials, great. But one

 thing I found I really liked about it is that it's a full length zipper, the small things. Because a

 lot of wind jackets they work as smocks. Smocks are nice but usually when I need my wind jacket

 is when I'm a little sweaty and when you have that other kind of material that a lot of the wind

 jackets use plus you're sweaty, it's really difficult to get off and it kind of sticks to

 your skin. Now this material doesn't stick to your skin in the same way. It's just it's a nice feeling

 so I'm actually okay with the extra 55 grams over my other wind jackets that have a hoodie. I also

 find the material to be quite breathable so even if it blocks a lot of the wind it doesn't stop

 all of it which means that I'm not completely sweating like a pig in it and it packs down

 really nicely. It's quite robust. I've had it now for about six months that I've been using it in

 all kinds of conditions. When I'm out fishing, hiking, you know through the forest like this,

 doesn't matter. It's robust and it's also a nice fit. You can see it's got these two nice pockets here.

 opinions about wind jackets then you should read my article and I think I even wrote it in one of

 my books that the wind jacket is like a nice little jacket that you can wear when you're out

 in the open. I think it's one of my favorite books that the wind jacket is like a really good thing

 to have basically. So anyway this is my quick little review of the Rab Vital Hoodie Wind Jacket.
