 It's got pretty darn good edge grip, maybe not as powerful or with as much vibration damping as a ski, a heavier ski with more metal would be. But considering its weight, yeah, the edge grip and the stability is pretty good. And then that weight kind of gives you a more, a more maneuverable feel when you take it off trail or if you're making kind of quick turns on the side of the trail, a little easier to flick back and forth. And what's also nice is although it doesn't use much tail rocker, it does have enough rocker and enough kind of early taper, both in the tip and the tail, more noticeable in the tip, that it's not gonna feel catchy

 In most cases added stability through rough snow comes with added weight, somthing like a Blizzard Rustler 9 would be a bit heavier and also a bit wider. Itll still pivot through tight terrain but you'll notice the extra swing weight.

Has anyone in here had any experience on the Apostle 96? Reviews are pretty thin online beyond the info from the product descriptions. I’m currently on a Volkl Blaze 86 and love how quick and playful it feels in trees and bumps, however the second I get too fast or go too big the ski lets me know veeeery quickly. I’m pretty much looking for something along the same lines as the Blaze but sacrifices a bit less stability at speed and mixed snow performance. Would love any input or alternative ski suggestions!

-Line Sick Day 94. Price is nice. Seem to be more geared towards intermediate skiers like me.

 More so on a local hill at Cypress Mtn (Vancouver) and only started at Whistler Blackcomb this past January (2022). Rental front side skis for the first 25 times, then switched to Line Sick Day 88 165cm skis which has really helped me progress to feeling comfortable doing most if not all single black runs at Cypress and Whistler/Blackcomb (as long as its not a pow day).

 They just want one ski that's really going to be comfortable everywhere. This thing is most at home doing nice medium GS turns at kind of medium to high speeds on firm snow. But with the tip and tail profile on this, it breaks loose really easy so you can slide the ski, you can smear and skid the ski. Which makes it great when you take it off trail and you get into crud, you get into bumps, you get into powder

 It's a super maneuverable ski. It's not going to hang up, it's not going to bog you down, it's not going to fight you. So for somebody that's looking for something predictable, reliable, that's not going to be a challenge to ski all day and wants to ski the entire hill front to back, this is a great choice.

It remains an extremely powerful and precise all-mountain option that’s perfectly happy in the hands of hard chargers at speed. Volkl did make some tweaks to the Titanal Frame construction: shorter skis now have less metal and are a little softer, while longer options are stronger with more metal. You also get the brand’s 3D Radius (also found in the Kendo below), which effectively gives the ski three different turn radii. In practice, it’s pretty impressive, and the M6 feels comfortable at everything from tight and quick turns to wide GS sweepers.

It’s a close call between the M6 and Nordica Enforcer above, and both are versatile, standout models. In parsing out the differences, the Mantra is noticeably wider at the tip (by 8mm), and its stiffer build gives it the advantage in terms of stability. But the Nordica is more comfortable in tight spaces with its nimble, easier-to-manage flex (this also makes it a better option for intermediate-level skiers). Both are excellent one-quiver options for riders that spend the majority of their time on groomers or in regions with moderate snowfall. 6'0 270lbs here. Volkl M6 Mantra 184 is what I ski, and before that I was on an older pair of Matra's. This is what you want, or something similarly stiff like a Nordica Enforcer etc.

I recently switched from boards to skiing again and am looking for a solid all mountain ski that will actually let me carve instead of just folding and sliding sideways.  I don't have much faith in the Amazon sponsored lists, and every manufacturer seems happy to say that their ski will work great, so I'm looking for real world info.

I am 6'3" and presently 260lbs and falling (down from 300).  I intend to reach a 230lb goal weight by next season.  I am mostly on 184 k2 poacher twin tips, but the whole twin thing isnt as fun as I had expected.  I have a worn out pair of 193 salomon xscreams that are old and shitty.  I ski midwest groomed/ice 95% of the time 2+ times a week with occasional real snowfall and 1-2 trips west.  I'd say I'm solid intermediate maybe a little advanced, sometimes I like to go 25-30mph according to gps.

I have been told to get skis with metal, and avoid the capped ones for ones with more rigid sidewalls.  Hoping to look late or off season because I just spent alot on proper boots.  Anyone have advice?

2023 Volkl M6 Mantra - Ski Review

 So we get tailored titanal frame and we get tailored carbon tip. Tailored titanal frame is pretty darn cool. Simply they took some metal out of the tip of the ski. So if you're to compare m5 mantra, m6 mantra the metal frame, especially just right in the end of the ski or only in right, in the end of the ski and in the tail as well

 Something that really kind of jumped out to me is. Is this morning we skied with uh, with a local local skier named christy who's who's, very, very good. At skiing racing background, she's been with vocal for a long time as like an athlete ambassador type position, she normally skis something like a 170 secret. I had her test the 177 m6 mantra this morning and watching her

 You know you're, probably going to take this ski off trail from time to time, just because, if you're choosing this width chances are you're going to be skiing, something other than just a groomer. So it's achieving that high level of carving performance, high level, precision and responsiveness and edge grip, while still being a relatively versatile ski. So all of that stuff carries over to this new mantra. They did a really good job of retaining what was already great about it, and to me that the highlighting characteristic of this ski has always been its precision

 So taking some swing weight out of the tip of the ski and what makes it tailored is it changes per length? So this is kind of similar to, or at least reminds me of what blizzard's doing with their true blend wood core. Basically, the the engineers at vocal are looking for ways to kind of custom, tweak the performance for each length of the ski, which i think is really cool and, and i think something that we'll probably see work its way into more and more brands in the ski Industry so take this 184 take the 184 and the 177 m6 mantra. This 184 has a longer thicker part of the metal. You know, essentially, the this portion is very similar, but this portion is longer and you know without measuring
