 It definitely stops where this partial sidewall stops and steps into a cap. That's kind of where that rocker starts. So that cap in the tip and as well in the tail does help lower the swing weight of the ski and make it a little bit quicker. So it's pretty close, a little bit more, you know, here's the cap here and there's the rocker there, so a little bit different in the tail

 So this thing, 94 underfoot, we talk about this a lot, kind of where that sweet spot is for width and shaping. So 94 is a pretty general consensus for that true all-mountain skier, wants a strong ski on trail, wants playfulness off trail, and a little bit of everything in between. So regardless of terrain or snow conditions, this 94, that mid-90s shape is really a nice sweet spot to be. And that kind of echoes and resonates in other areas of the ski as well, not dramatically tapered or rockered, kind of right in the middle, again just trying to hit right down the middle there

 So that cap in the tip and as well in the tail does help lower the swing weight of the ski and make it a little bit quicker. So it's pretty close, a little bit more, you know, here's the cap here and there's the rocker there, so a little bit different in the tail. But again, just kind of keeping that weight, that swing weight low, keeping the ski quick and easy to move, you know, but that carbon and the wood core do a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of performance. So just a really nice overall well-rounded ski from line, you know, more directional than some of their more freestyle-oriented skis

 Really firm snow wasn't really well where they excelled, but they were definitely easy to maneuver on short turns or wide turns. These held up really well on the groomers and they also did pretty well in the trees. I had no problem getting short turns in around the trees, so that was really great.  This ski was pretty playful in that because the tips are super soft, you could turn pretty easily, but again, this is not going to be a freestyle ski. This is going to be a directional ski, so this ski is going to do the best on groomers and in light powder. The profile has just a little bit of camber in it, which is nice because it does help you keep your edge on groomers. Control was best at moderate to slow speeds

 I did ski this on some pretty firm ice. It definitely experienced some chatter there, but if you're just skiing a lot of like soft snow, trees, and you're not necessarily on the East Coast, these would be a really good option. This ski was pretty playful in that because the tips are super soft, you could turn pretty easily, but again, this is not going to be a freestyle ski. It remains an extremely powerful and precise all-mountain option that’s perfectly happy in the hands of hard chargers at speed. Volkl did make some tweaks to the Titanal Frame construction: shorter skis now have less metal and are a little softer, while longer options are stronger with more metal. You also get the brand’s 3D Radius (also found in the Kendo below), which effectively gives the ski three different turn radii. In practice, it’s pretty impressive, and the M6 feels comfortable at everything from tight and quick turns to wide GS sweepers.

It’s a close call between the M6 and Nordica Enforcer above, and both are versatile, standout models. In parsing out the differences, the Mantra is noticeably wider at the tip (by 8mm), and its stiffer build gives it the advantage in terms of stability. But the Nordica is more comfortable in tight spaces with its nimble, easier-to-manage flex (this also makes it a better option for intermediate-level skiers). Both are excellent one-quiver options for riders that spend the majority of their time on groomers or in regions with moderate snowfall. 6'0 270lbs here. Volkl M6 Mantra 184 is what I ski, and before that I was on an older pair of Matra's. This is what you want, or something similarly stiff like a Nordica Enforcer etc.

I recently switched from boards to skiing again and am looking for a solid all mountain ski that will actually let me carve instead of just folding and sliding sideways.  I don't have much faith in the Amazon sponsored lists, and every manufacturer seems happy to say that their ski will work great, so I'm looking for real world info.

I am 6'3" and presently 260lbs and falling (down from 300).  I intend to reach a 230lb goal weight by next season.  I am mostly on 184 k2 poacher twin tips, but the whole twin thing isnt as fun as I had expected.  I have a worn out pair of 193 salomon xscreams that are old and shitty.  I ski midwest groomed/ice 95% of the time 2+ times a week with occasional real snowfall and 1-2 trips west.  I'd say I'm solid intermediate maybe a little advanced, sometimes I like to go 25-30mph according to gps.

I have been told to get skis with metal, and avoid the capped ones for ones with more rigid sidewalls.  Hoping to look late or off season because I just spent alot on proper boots.  Anyone have advice?
