 Do you know anything about them? Yeah man, I know a couple things they're adding gas pedal metal to this. This is a kind of construction bar from the Line Blade and it's like a partial metal sheet with cutouts. You get some nice stability, nice kind of dampness out of that metal, but it also kind of characterizes a lot of line skis. Still pretty fun, pretty playful, and has some good pop to it

 It's a little wider so slower edge to edge, you know, but nice big platform for popping over rollers. Also took them into the bumps. They're a little wide for them, yeah, but nice and springy to get you from bump to bump and the softer tip you could really kind of crush through and hop up and over them. Yeah, I've been on a lot of line skis

For 2022-2023, Line took their futuristic metal design, as seen in the Blade, and adapted it to a lineup of all-mountain and freeride skis: Blade Optic. Currently I ride Volkl mantra m5 as my daily driver. Looking for a directional ski I can rely on in firm conditions but also has low swing weight in the trees. I’m thinking ~105mm underfoot. Looking at the Fischer Ranger 102 (last year and this year) in addition to Fischer Ranger 108, and Line Blade Optic 104. If anyone has skied the Ranger both on the current model and previous year models your input is especially welcomed as I know they changed the entire line this year.

Open to all suggestions.

 The Line Blade Optic 96 is one of the best new skis for this weight. Line has done a nice job taking some DNA from the OG Blade and packaging it into something more all-mountain capable. It's powerful and locked into speed thanks to a solid feeling underfoot, and the profound stiffness of the ski makes it feel more at home up on edge and on hardpack. At 96mm, it floats just well enough to handle some softer snow, and the power that's available on this ski makes it a great choice in some heavier, choppier snow

 Even though this ski does offer good all-mountain versatility, it's really going to be built for a more powerful skiing style, and it likes to be on groomers. Buy the Line Blade Optic 96 if you want a ski built to crush groomers, regardless of how hard the snow is. But we'll be up for the challenge if you want to get a little adventurous through the bumps or tighter terrain.

 I've helped over a thousand people get the right equipment for them, and I'm here today at Powder Mountain in Utah testing out the Line Blade Optic 96 Ski. The Volkl M6 Mantra has truly earned our approval as the best all-mountain ski, keeping the Mantra series atop the podium once again. Whether the forecast is unclear and snow conditions uncertain, staying true to your “Mantra” is what we recommend. With three of Volkl’s Tailored Technologies underfoot, be prepared to tackle anything the mountain throws your way.
This year Volkl introduces their 3D Radius Sidecut technology to the M6 Mantra. Boasting three different turn radii within the side of the ski, the M6 can achieve a different turn outcome depending on skier input. This new technology admittedly took some getting used to. However, we found the tech especially helpful when merging onto a new run with more traffic or exiting a mogul field back onto the groomer. The M6 Mantra is on the damp side of the spectrum for skis. But we can’t complain when the overall result is the superior combination of stability and maneuverability that this ski offers through icy groomers, afternoon chop and slop, and deep pow days.

On the heels of the extremely successful and well-loved M5, Volkl hasn’t rocked the boat too much with the new M6 Mantra. It remains an extremely powerful and precise all-mountain option that’s perfectly happy in the hands of hard chargers at speed. Volkl did make some tweaks to the Titanal Frame construction: shorter skis now have less metal and are a little softer, while longer options are stronger with more metal. You also get the brand’s 3D Radius (also found in the Kendo below), which effectively gives the ski three different turn radii. In practice, it’s pretty impressive, and the M6 feels comfortable at everything from tight and quick turns to wide GS sweepers.

It’s a close call between the M6 and Nordica Enforcer above, and both are versatile, standout models. In parsing out the differences, the Mantra is noticeably wider at the tip (by 8mm), and its stiffer build gives it the advantage in terms of stability. But the Nordica is more comfortable in tight spaces with its nimble, easier-to-manage flex (this also makes it a better option for intermediate-level skiers). Both are excellent one-quiver options for riders that spend the majority of their time on groomers or in regions with moderate snowfall. 6'0 270lbs here. Volkl M6 Mantra 184 is what I ski, and before that I was on an older pair of Matra's. This is what you want, or something similarly stiff like a Nordica Enforcer etc.

I recently switched from boards to skiing again and am looking for a solid all mountain ski that will actually let me carve instead of just folding and sliding sideways.  I don't have much faith in the Amazon sponsored lists, and every manufacturer seems happy to say that their ski will work great, so I'm looking for real world info.

I am 6'3" and presently 260lbs and falling (down from 300).  I intend to reach a 230lb goal weight by next season.  I am mostly on 184 k2 poacher twin tips, but the whole twin thing isnt as fun as I had expected.  I have a worn out pair of 193 salomon xscreams that are old and shitty.  I ski midwest groomed/ice 95% of the time 2+ times a week with occasional real snowfall and 1-2 trips west.  I'd say I'm solid intermediate maybe a little advanced, sometimes I like to go 25-30mph according to gps.

I have been told to get skis with metal, and avoid the capped ones for ones with more rigid sidewalls.  Hoping to look late or off season because I just spent alot on proper boots.  Anyone have advice?

 So we get tailored titanal frame and we get tailored carbon tip. Tailored titanal frame is pretty darn cool. Simply they took some metal out of the tip of the ski. So if you're to compare m5 mantra, m6 mantra the metal frame, especially just right in the end of the ski or only in right, in the end of the ski and in the tail as well

 Something that really kind of jumped out to me is. Is this morning we skied with uh, with a local local skier named christy who's who's, very, very good. At skiing racing background, she's been with vocal for a long time as like an athlete ambassador type position, she normally skis something like a 170 secret.
