I've been trolling this sub for a while trying to find a good solution for what seems to be a somewhat unique use case.  I wanted a travel monitor for my rather locked down employer provided laptop with display port/VGA output, usb-c with no video output and wireless screen share disabled by employer while connected to VPN.  I have to have a device that supports 1080p res. because one program I work in is basically un-usable in lower res

I already own a 15 inch travel monitor that, for the most part, works great as a travel monitor but it's a little on the large side for fitting in a carry-on with a laptop.  However the real kicker was that I really wanted something that I could use as a stand alone computing device for general personal web browsing and other simple stuff, extra bonus if it had pen input for pretending to be an artist and taking handwritten notes

I bought a Yoga Smart Tab from Lenovo for that reason. Kickstand helps so I can set it down and watch with now issues!

I got a holder sized for tablets 😅 can even hold my Surface Go nicely! I have a smaller one for my Galaxy S10+, it's as indispensable as my charger or my headphones 😊

I had a Nexus 7 for like 7 years. I always used a cover with a strap for my hand. When I laid in bed, it was easy because the tablet was basically just an extension of my flat hand.

I just got a Galaxy S6 Lite tablet. I'm happy with it, but I'm having trouble getting used to the bigger screen. I got a similar strap as my N7, and it works ok.

But, on its own, it seems very limited regarding how it could be held. There just isn't much bezel to hold onto. My N7 was easy to just gasp with one hand, but this 10" is an uncomfortable stretch to hold in one hand from side-to-side. So, I have to touch the screen side.

I'm just wondering if there's something I don't know - like a way to quickly lock the screen when a video is playing so that I can touch the screen side without registering or something.

Stupid question - how do people hold a tablet while watching videos?

I was in your shoes a few years ago and I completely regret buying my Lenovo Yoga. The device heats up like crazy when it's in tablet mode, making the battery degrade super fast. As a matter of fact, the whole device just doesn't have a very good thermal system, and if you dig around online you'll find that tons of people end up having to replace their batteries because of how much it's lifespan suffers as a consequence. I've also just had so many inconveniences with it

Is this worth $900 for college and very little gaming? Need to run at least 4-5 years.

I also threw linux on it (arch), and almost everything works out the box, but the trackpad in linux has been a tad iffy. It's no Dell XPS 13, but for the original $500, it's been amazing, especially when folding into tablet mode. The cover is cloth, so you can consider it as a smidgen of padding when traveling, to protect the laptop.

I was wondering if people could suggest a good ryzen 2 and 1 4500u and 4700u.  8 or 16 gb.  

I was looking at the Yoga 6,  generally have good experience with lenovo.
Others I was looking at were the envy 360 and the asus vivo flipbook.  

Also any others you can recommend or have good experience with.  500 to 800 dollars.

 I have my hand entirely on the screen here without any issues at all. Again here, writing is just smooth. It glides across the screen. It works great

 There is also a pretty decent amount of weight to this tablet, which I wasn't expecting either for maybe because it has Lite in its name, but this is actually a pretty sturdy and solid feeling tablet here. We do have those AKG speakers on here, which is great to see, although it is a dual speaker setup, opposed to a quad speaker setup, but I think having those dual speakers will be sufficient. We'll check out the audio quality here in a bit. On the top here, we have our mic and a headphone jack, nothing on the left side of the device

 Hey guys, how's it going? In this video, we're going to be doing an unboxing and I'm going to

 give my first impressions on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. Now, this is Samsung's latest tablet

 that was just released about a week ago, and its main selling point is the price, coming in at just

 $350. And this is significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, which comes in at $650.

 We have a very similar screen size at 10.4 inches, opposed to 10.5 inches on the Tab S6.

 We also have the exact same battery capacity here on the Tab S6 Lite, but there are some compromises

 being made in the processor and in the display, which we'll get into in a bit here. I personally

 have the blue color here, but this also comes in pink and gray variants. But let's go ahead

 and check out the Tab S6 Lite. Have our device on top, see what else we get in the box. We have a

 15 watt fast charging brick. We have a USB type A to type C charging cable. We have an ejection

 tool for the micro SD card slot and some general paperwork. On the bottom here, we have our S-Pen.
