5 liter external reservoir/\s/ to hold your water. That reservoir is just/\s/located at the back. Here you can take it out. This machine has the nice E61 group head so you do/\s/have um, that professional style group head

 this/\s/machine does have Pid, so unlike its competitors/\s/ you're always going to stay within one/\s/degree of optimal brewing temperature/\s/ The pid on this machine is a little/\s/customizable You have a low medium high/\s/ setting. On the older model of the Mara, you/\s/were able to get into the specific degrees/\s/ but they have simplified it for folks and just/\s/doing the low medium high, you can access that just underneath here. So if you're in the circle/\s/and you're pressed in the middle, that's your low/\s/ To the left is going to be medium and/\s/then to the right is going to be high/\s/ Okay, so this does have a 58 millimeter portafilter/\s/it is very nice and it has a good weight to it/\s/ as well. This portafilter does lay flat, so/\s/when you're trying to dose out your coffee/\s/ and tamp, you're not also trying to level your/\s/portafilter which is is helpful

 It's all going/\s/to be based on how well you tamp your espresso/\s/ as well as your grind size and things like that/\s/one of the things I like about this machine is/\s/ It's not overly sensitive to grind size as you'll/\s/notice here I'm just using the virtuoso plus/\s/ from Barraza with this machine. Whenever I/\s/demo this machine, this is the grinder that I/\s/ choose to use. It's very accessible to customers/\s/and it's very easy to use. It's not like some other/\s/ espresso grinders where you do/\s/get into the micro adjustments/\s/ So one of the reasons I consider this an entry/\s/level is it's not sensitive to grind size

Lelit Mara X  New Model Review!

Never went back. Got a Eureka Mignon Manuale which will be replaced by a DF64 soon and Lelit Mara X as my current setup. The latter was a game changer. Oh, and never buy Nespresso

Inspired by a lot of recent posts about beans and a few about techniques, I was surprised that people didn’t already have roasters in mind, some didn’t have a favourite coffee shop they could get ideas from, and some didn’t even have a favourite drink!

I had naively thought I was the common case - I got into it because I already loved espresso, spent a fair amount of time finding new good places etc but eventually compiled a ludicrous spreadsheet about the break even point and upgraded with lockdowns when I worried my access to very good espresso might be cut off - but it seems not.

So I ask you, r/espresso, how did you get into this expensive time consuming and hyperactivity inducing hobby?  Did you have a business case?  Moved to the sticks and so had to get high on your own supply?  Thought you could do better?  Needed to make tiramisu on the regular?  Dietary requirements?  Did someone buy you an espresso machine and now here we are?

What got you into home espresso?

 If you absolutely want to have an HX, then consider Lelit Mara X, which is the only HX that has its PID temperature sensor in the brew group where it belongs, not in the steam boiler.

No need to deal with cooling flushes, group thermometers, Dragons vs. Mixers vs. Agnostics, etc. Check out Lelit Elizabeth, Breville Dual Boiler, Profitec Pro 300, Rancilio Silvia Pro, or ACS Minima

New to espresso, what grinder should I get?

It is more trouble than it’s worth compared to a double boiler. The temperature instability will require cooling flushes. I would also avoid anything with an E61 head as that takes 20 minutes to warm up and has significantly worse temp stability than a saturated group since it is constantly losing/gaining heat with a large thermal mass. The Lelit Victoria, Lelit Anna PID, Silvia with PID, ECM Casa V, and gaggia with PID are probably your best bets for consistent shots until you go into Lelit MaraX/Elizabeth territory

I finally scored a Niche, help me choose a machine? Looking at Gaggia classic, Lelit Mara X, ECM V Slim, etc

I have the Lelit Mara X and I love it. The choice of steam priority mode vs brew priority mode, the steam boost after pulling a shot, and the brew temperature adjustment put it in a class by itself among HX machines.

So this is my final setup I’ve decided on, anybody run this same setup? Anything you think I should change?

 Okay, considering all the taste is coming from this little piece, I would say that it's more than decent. If we compare the Nespresso machine to this, a dedicated grinder and a manual espresso machine, things get out of Nespresso's league. That being said, this quality comes with a bit of caveats, and by that I mean you have to adjust the grinding size, measure the beans, you have to preheat the espresso machine for about 15 minutes, and after that yes, you get a better coffee and also better milk frothing, but it's more difficult. It's a way more tedious process and in the end, it takes a lot a lot more time

 [Music] Now in terms of taste, you have a lot of capsules to choose from. And honestly considering we are talking about a capsule machine, yeah, come on focus, this is it.  In today's video, I will be reviewing my Nespresso Gratista Plus which really helps me out on those early early mornings and gives me a bit of energy to face the day the usually hard day at the hospital. This will be kind of a straight to the point review. I won't get into those tiny little details, I will just focus on my personal experience over the past one year. While I've got this coffee companion, this is a premium all-in-one do it all capsule coffee machine from Nespresso

 And, once you came to terms with the "pod" issue, you landed with Nespresso. Now, which one? We spent weeks reviewing reviews and going back and forth between the numerous models. Our objective was two-fold; make a variety of coffees and froth the milk with one machine. While one family member wants the "fancy coffee" the other two really just care about the frothed milk

 For years I've used a handheld milk frother which worked beautifully for two years, until the wand spun off. Definitely got my $20 worth there, but now needed a replacement. Upgrade time!!  We looked at the DeLonghi model with the milk container attached. Looked like way too much work to clean each time

 And, in defense of the Creatista, we're still learning, but as novices to the Nespresso scene, I wish we hadn't gone with a combined model. Since milk frothing was the number one feature for 2/3 of the family, I think a separate frother which heats and froths would have sufficed. The Creatista allows numerous froth and temperature settings but has preset steam output; you can't have unlimited steam for unlimited froth. The result (and again, maybe we aren't doing something right) is decent froth, but considerable liquid left

New to Nespresso?  Maybe start more basic... if froth is your priority.

 So maybe you're wondering - does it match a full professional machine? First off - of course not - I can do a better shot, have more options, and can do a lot more with latte art and milk texture on a real machine. I can get a lot better and more authentic crema on a professional machine. On a professional machine I can choose exotic beans and experience crazy weird taste and half the fun of coffee is making it. (nespresso has quite a variety though which is worth trying - including some good third parties like Pete's, ect) That being said - It's not supposed to compete with a professional machine

 I ordered another for my Dad because he loved mine so much I had to get him one. The settings that work for me are flat white - milk level 2, latte milk level 5, and cappuccino milk level 8. They closer to the real deal with those settings. Please don't judge my poor latte art - I was just trying a few with the machine and thought I would post them to show how close to the real thing you can come with this machine on the first go

 It's a home machine under $500. We're talking a HUGE price difference to a professional machine which can range in the 10-15k range for a good one like the Aurelia. (And you still need to buy your Mazzer grinder for 1-2k!) it's a lot of work and expensive to own a professional machine. I also find I can waste more on a coffee machine - you need to drink enough to get through a bag of beans before they get past the first month of roast

  Is it more expensive than making fresh beans rather than using the pods? Sure. But the convenience makes the delta a no-brainer for me and I'm sure for many of you.  Note: Depending on the hardness of your water this will need to be descaled every once in a while. At 2 lattes/per day, it took me a couple minutes to hit my first descaling service

 But then I did the math (living in a HCOL city) and at $5-7 per latte, I would easily cover the cost of the machine itself in 75-90 lattes. After a few weeks of buying them near work, I quickly surmised that not learning to make lattes and doing it at home would become a very expensive habit, very fast.  So I set out to figure out how to make a latte

The milk frother does not get the milk hot any more - went to Sur La Table who showed me how to increase temperature to have very hot milk - did that and still does not get hot - very disappointed for the amount of money this thing cost.

 The machine arrived just in time for the weekend and we put it through the paces - made a lot of coffee and it never skipped a beat. Consistently good - the entire family enjoys it.  This coffee and espresso maker helps minimize waste by brewing coffee one at a time - previously I was brewing for a small pour-over maker, which is still nice, however there is a lot less waste and everyone gets their own favorite and as strong as they like it.  Easy clean up, nice design, good coffee

 I got this mason jar in Target a long time ago. um the metal straw. I purchased it on Amazon so this too is so far my favorite drink. Since I purchased this machine, I haven't had any experience with descaling this machine yet because I only have it for a month and I believe you do have to purchase this de-scaling solution online which um, probably like eight or ten dollars which is not bad
