 this/\s/machine does have Pid, so unlike its competitors/\s/ you're always going to stay within one/\s/degree of optimal brewing temperature/\s/ The pid on this machine is a little/\s/customizable You have a low medium high/\s/ setting. On the older model of the Mara, you/\s/were able to get into the specific degrees/\s/ but they have simplified it for folks and just/\s/doing the low medium high, you can access that just underneath here. So if you're in the circle/\s/and you're pressed in the middle, that's your low/\s/ To the left is going to be medium and/\s/then to the right is going to be high/\s/ Okay, so this does have a 58 millimeter portafilter/\s/it is very nice and it has a good weight to it/\s/ as well. This portafilter does lay flat, so/\s/when you're trying to dose out your coffee/\s/ and tamp, you're not also trying to level your/\s/portafilter which is is helpful

 It's all going/\s/to be based on how well you tamp your espresso/\s/ as well as your grind size and things like that/\s/one of the things I like about this machine is/\s/ It's not overly sensitive to grind size as you'll/\s/notice here I'm just using the virtuoso plus/\s/ from Barraza with this machine. Whenever I/\s/demo this machine, this is the grinder that I/\s/ choose to use. It's very accessible to customers/\s/and it's very easy to use. Never went back. Got a Eureka Mignon Manuale which will be replaced by a DF64 soon and Lelit Mara X as my current setup. The latter was a game changer. Oh, and never buy Nespresso

Inspired by a lot of recent posts about beans and a few about techniques, I was surprised that people didn’t already have roasters in mind, some didn’t have a favourite coffee shop they could get ideas from, and some didn’t even have a favourite drink!

I had naively thought I was the common case - I got into it because I already loved espresso, spent a fair amount of time finding new good places etc but eventually compiled a ludicrous spreadsheet about the break even point and upgraded with lockdowns when I worried my access to very good espresso might be cut off - but it seems not.

So I ask you, r/espresso, how did you get into this expensive time consuming and hyperactivity inducing hobby?  Did you have a business case?  Moved to the sticks and so had to get high on your own supply?  Thought you could do better?  Needed to make tiramisu on the regular?  Dietary requirements?  Did someone buy you an espresso machine and now here we are?

What got you into home espresso?

 If you absolutely want to have an HX, then consider Lelit Mara X, which is the only HX that has its PID temperature sensor in the brew group where it belongs, not in the steam boiler.

No need to deal with cooling flushes, group thermometers, Dragons vs. Mixers vs. Agnostics, etc. Check out Lelit Elizabeth, Breville Dual Boiler, Profitec Pro 300, Rancilio Silvia Pro, or ACS Minima

New to espresso, what grinder should I get?

It is more trouble than it’s worth compared to a double boiler. The temperature instability will require cooling flushes. I would also avoid anything with an E61 head as that takes 20 minutes to warm up and has significantly worse temp stability than a saturated group since it is constantly losing/gaining heat with a large thermal mass. The Lelit Victoria, Lelit Anna PID, Silvia with PID, ECM Casa V, and gaggia with PID are probably your best bets for consistent shots until you go into Lelit MaraX/Elizabeth territory

I finally scored a Niche, help me choose a machine? Looking at Gaggia classic, Lelit Mara X, ECM V Slim, etc

I have the Lelit Mara X and I love it. The choice of steam priority mode vs brew priority mode, the steam boost after pulling a shot, and the brew temperature adjustment put it in a class by itself among HX machines.

So this is my final setup I’ve decided on, anybody run this same setup? Anything you think I should change?

So that is what that first coffee pod made and then you go ahead and make it to your liking. We add froth milk which we use from our machine over here and um just some creamer and go from there and I'll also show you how I make um another cup. The next one I'm going to make is the melozio which makes 230 milliliters of coffee

 It doesn't bother me, we use filtered water um and then just put it in here instead of like tap water and I think that makes a difference as well and like how it tastes. But yeah the filter or the water canister is a little bit smaller if you are used to one of the machines with the um, the bigger canister. So for this machine, the uh, empty pods go on the side here which is really nice. It's very sleek and hidden

 This one is an Alto Dulce. it's a caffeinated one which I don't mess with and Columbia so these are the different ones that you get. I really love the selection. I just think it's so great that they give you a little starter kit just so you can figure out which ones you like and know which ones to order

2021 REVIEW & UNBOXING - NESPRESSO DELONGHI VERTUO NEXT

 Downsides: Kind of hard to see any, I suppose. You could say that it does take a bit longer to make your morning coffee, but it's hard to crack on that since it's taking longer to brew a larger cup. Some folks have complained that the coffee is just not as hot as the espressos the original machines put out, but I didn't really notice a discernible or unpleasant difference. In short, if you're looking for a compact, do-it-all machine with great coffee options, I think you'll be pretty pleased with the Nespresso Virtuo next by Delonghi

 for me, I found there were still some virtuo coffee roasts that did taste bitter and at the same time, I didn't notice a big difference in temperature from the virtual machine to the original machine. I did take the temperatures of the espressos the moment they finished in each machine, and the original Nespresso temperature was only marginally higher than the Virtuo. The virtual line seems to pride itself on being a bit more tech savvy, the barcode system and all. It also lets you connect your machine to the Nespresso app

 In my opinion, the full brew sequence will last about a minute for an espresso to nearly two minutes for a fuller-sized coffee. After it's brewed, the pod will stay in place inside the machine until you open the top, then it's automatically lifted out and flipped into the discard bin. I found there was good variety of coffees available, and just like the original Nespresso line, some were tasty and others not my preference. The coffee, though, is definitely fresh and flavorful, and the espressos come out nice and thick and rich and with a beautiful crema

 For that reason, the virtual line uses a slightly lower temperature when making coffee, and here all those rotations help saturate the grounds faster so not as much heat is needed. Now for some people, this is a significant problem. Coffee that comes out of the machine at any temperature other than volcanic may not be as enjoyable. I guess temperature and taste preferences are very individual, so whether a slightly cooler but more flavorful and less bitter brew will be enjoyable for you is definitely a matter of taste

 I may have to just bring it back to Target because the pods are too expensive to just have the machine chew it up and the machine was way to expensive to just not work at all.

If you like really hot coffee made in a Keurig where boiling water is forced through a plastic pod or made in a Mr. Coffee pot where boiling water is dripped over pre-ground coffee out of a bag and then left to sit on a hot pad until you get around to pouring a cup, this machine and the cost of the coffee pods is not for you. If you drink your coffee out of a paper cup or insulated mug while driving to work, Nespresso is probably not worth your time. If, on the other hand, you enjoy relaxing and savoring a cup of really good coffee, this is the one you should consider

  I bought the De'Longhi ENV135BAE Coffee and Espresso Machine Bundle with Aeroccino Milk Frother. The milk frother is a great addition and much less expensive when bought with the machine. It is simple to use and clean, and it quickly produces a nice froth. IMHO well worth the price

Not for Keurig Lovers

 The bundle also came with a fabulous milk frothier. The initial setup is very easy to follow, it tells you how to do a first time use cleaning and how to brew your first cup of coffee. I prefer more of a latte when drinking my coffee so that gave me a chance to try out the milk frothier that came with the machine. First after inserting the coffee pod and starting the brewing process I was delighted to see how the coffee and foam actually separated just as seen in the videos on the website

I had been putting off purchasing this machine due to some reviews stating that the coffee was not hot enough. It turns out that most of those reviews were for the original models. The new Vertuoline machines seem to brew a slightly hotter cup than the original. Granted it is not so hot as to scald you but who drinks coffee that hot? When I received the machine I was first very impressed with how it was packaged

 For a latte I recommend using at least a 16oz cup or mug so both the coffee and milk will fit. I tried various flavors and intensities both with and without milk. Once I smelled the aroma, saw and then tasted various blends I was hooked!!!! The quality of these coffees are as good as it gets when home brewing. I have since retired my previous machine and will never be satisfied with anything less than my new Nespresso machine and coffees
