Even the 10k machines, which admittedly pour a great shot, are a pain in the ass and won’t age well. If you’ve got the cash I would pony up for a La Marzocco Linea Mini, get a decent grinder, good waterfilter and you will literally have the machine for the rest of your life. It’s a little messier and takes longer, but it is a craft you can hone.

La Marzocco Linea Mini, with maintenance, should last you multiple lifetimes. We've had ours for 2 years now and it's been rock solid. Flush every two weeks, clean the tank, change the gasket once a year and its fantastic. To be fair, we skipped its first annual service because of everything, but not a complaint (its rescheduled for a few weeks)

LeLit, as are many other Italian manufacturers, has a reputation for standing by their product for years and years and years. You won't be disappointed. And most important.

I bought a lelit elizabeth and eureka specialita combo, I would consider them a good 'user friendly' combo. To make *good* drinks i'd say the only major hurdle is dialing your grinding down. Even that you can figure out pretty quickly and after that it's relatively set it and make small (easy) adjustments when needed.

The design is great. Brushed steel, simple lines and minimal doodads make it a nice, quiet addition to my (open-plan) apartment. The small footprint is also a huge plus.

Those days are behind me now due to the feature packed dual boiler Lelit Elizabeth. Hard to imagine why this machine is cheaper than the majority of heat exchangers on the market, but produces a shot of coffee far above it's price point.
