A Must Have in the Kitchen

 So I measured, and - KitchenAid really misnamed this thing. They overstated how much fits in the container. The "3.5 cup" container starts to overflow through the center column if you have 2 1/3 cups of liquid

  One other thing. WASH the blade and the bowl before you use it. I had two tiny metal splinters on my blade left over from when the metal was sharpened. Thats not a dig at KitchenAid

  I SUPPOSE - if you took out the blade assembly - you MIGHT be able to fit 3 1/2 cups of AIR in the thing, but thats a ridiculous way to measure. Who uses a food processor without a blade? I didn't expect to get 3 1/2 cups of usable capacity, but I really didn't expect this to top out at less than 2 1/2.  The instructions list the capacity as:  up to 1.5 cups of liquids / emulsions up to 2

The capacity is less than the name leads you to believe

 it isn’t large enough for lots of tasks.  For example, if you plan to make pie dough in the food processor, this size will not suffice unless you don’t mind dividing your recipe in 2. Most recipes make 2 crusts and while you may be able to force all of the butter and flour inside, it ends up too crowded to actually pulse it and blend the flour and butter (or shortening) together. I thought I’d be able to make pie crust and am disappointed that I have to split each recipe in half and can only make one pie crust at a time

 My biggest complaint is the size, I regret not buying the 7 cup for $100, it would have been a better value and I could do more with it. While this works well for making sauces, grinding up nuts, grinding sugar so it’s superfine, etc. it isn’t large enough for lots of tasks.  I have a lot of KitchenAid appliances and it’s unfortunate that something like a chopper can make you second guess further purchases. I liked using it, but I guess it’s now useless.

 Also with the choppingblade sometimes not all of the product get sliced or diced often there are small pieces that dont get chopped, this also beeing a common problem with foodprocessors no matter brand. I dont have a dishwasher and there are some pieces to clean. Although the sides are straight and no nooks where food or flour can hide so its easy to clean.
