A Must Have in the Kitchen

 So I measured, and - KitchenAid really misnamed this thing. They overstated how much fits in the container. The "3.5 cup" container starts to overflow through the center column if you have 2 1/3 cups of liquid

  One other thing. WASH the blade and the bowl before you use it. I had two tiny metal splinters on my blade left over from when the metal was sharpened. Thats not a dig at KitchenAid

  I SUPPOSE - if you took out the blade assembly - you MIGHT be able to fit 3 1/2 cups of AIR in the thing, but thats a ridiculous way to measure. Who uses a food processor without a blade? I didn't expect to get 3 1/2 cups of usable capacity, but I really didn't expect this to top out at less than 2 1/2.  The instructions list the capacity as:  up to 1.5 cups of liquids / emulsions up to 2

The capacity is less than the name leads you to believe

 it isn’t large enough for lots of tasks.  For example, if you plan to make pie dough in the food processor, this size will not suffice unless you don’t mind dividing your recipe in 2. Most recipes make 2 crusts and while you may be able to force all of the butter and flour inside, it ends up too crowded to actually pulse it and blend the flour and butter (or shortening) together. I thought I’d be able to make pie crust and am disappointed that I have to split each recipe in half and can only make one pie crust at a time

 My biggest complaint is the size, I regret not buying the 7 cup for $100, it would have been a better value and I could do more with it. I’ve had this mini food processor for about 2 years. I use it about 2x a week.  I have a lot of KitchenAid appliances and it’s unfortunate that something like a chopper can make you second guess further purchases. I liked using it, but I guess it’s now useless.

The food processor works very well but it definitely seems a lot noisier than our old model. The blades bang and rattle about on the spindle, which I don't recall happening so much with the old one. When using the pulse function the motor starts and stops with a very loud 'crashing' sound and causes the relays on my Computer's UPS to click in sympathy with the presses of the button

 Again, I don't remember that happening with the old one.  In some ways it is better and in some ways it is worse. More versatile, I guess especially with the different sized feed chutes but that makes an awful lot of washing up when you don't have a dish washer.

 I mean that was obviously super, quick, fantastic, um yeah, so you can keep your fingers safe. Do not get the fingers in there. Obviously, you have to use this to push anything down because the blades are right there, so not right there. You really have to reach to get your fingers in, but i just wanted to say that, because, as you can see it chops very fast and the same thing with these blades like they are sharp

 So there's a big thing: the base is pretty heavy um and yeah. As you can see, the accessories take up quite a lot of space. I don't think you're going to be sad to have any of this, so it's totally worth it there's a big blade, uh this whisk and there's a spatula all these different um grating and slicing devices. So i don't think you're going to think that any of it is not necessary to have, but it does take a little bit space

 So i really wanted to keep the smallest bowl in my food processor small. This is 1.2 liters, it's fairly small! It'S like this, so that comes with its own blade uh. That only fits in the small one and i'm gon na give that a go
