 Okay so on the outside you also notice that there is new zipper poles and I'll move that up to where you can see that. Okay, those are one of the updates to this bag as well. They used to use these little ones like what you see on this organizer I believe that's called a fisherman's hook and it was paracord but if it ever came undone, it was really challenging to use. So they have updated the whole bag with these inside and out so that it's a lot easier system to use

 Now to take one off you just simply slide it off like this. Now the strap is still secured on the bag but this is makes it very secure and holds it in place. The remainder of the strap is held underneath here by velcro. It's a very very strong velcro and to get to that what you would do is you would undo this snap first like this, then you would pull the rope side and inside

 The reason I just want to take it off for the remainder is I Wanted to first show that if you are a huge water bottle fan which many of my friends are, this is available. It's $20 normal off the Van Quest website and that way if you are looking for a water bottle holder you have that option to put one on here. Okay now one of the biggest things when I worked at Van Quest and just people that I've talked to, they always want to know if the original katara, which was a slingback could be made into a backpack by purchasing a second strap. The answer to that question is kind of twofold and the overall answer is no because first, Van Quests did not make a secondary strap for the bag and second, even if someone had a secondary strap, the bag wasn't designed to take a second strap and it would be very uncomfortable to wear the bag and it just wasn't designed on the strap system to hold a second one

 I've been using the Bankwest Katara 16 backpack for the past several months now and brought it on multiple day hikes when out and about with the family. also for EDC commuting when carrying a laptop and then even on multiple flights for business travel. It works great as a carry-on bag for flights and it easily fits under the front seat for storage. It's a great EDC bag due to its small size and the multiple compartments and zippered pockets that it has

 The next con that I have listed is that there is no dedicated water bottle holder. You could always get the Van Quest Hydra water bottle holder which is really clever, but I find that it's a little bit too tight of a fit on the sides of this particular backpack and I think it takes away from the sexy Mali Look the next con is that because this bag is so small, that laptop sleeve only supports around a 12 to 13 inch laptop maximum. So if you have a 15 inch laptop, you're not going to be able to store in that sleeve and you're gonna have to store it in the main compartment of this particular backpack without a strap. And that's a little risky

 Due to that size, you can't carry more items that are needed for EDC purposes which helps keep the bag light. Let's go over the size and weight. so the storage pack capacity of the Katara 16 is 16 liters so it's not a large backpack. It weighs in at around 2

If you're looking for just a backpack just to be a backpack though, and to and from the office, maybe to the gym, to and from class, this bag is gonna fit your needs very well. As long as you don't expect it to be feature-rich and have all these pockets and you know what you're getting into, you're gonna love this bag. Now to the cons of the bag

 It's still just that Cordillera fabric and I found that it doesn't breathe very well on your back and it's kind of a buzzkill for me. My next con is gonna be the laptop sleeve is not padded I Don't really know how you could market this bag for you know, everyday use where people are taking their laptops here and there and the only thing protecting that laptop is a tiny piece of nylon separating that in the main compartment. It's just a recipe for disaster, especially with the crap that we throw in the main compartment. along with laptops running upwards of like $3,000 nowadays

 You know you can unzip it, throw whatever crap you need to grab really quickly just because you don't wanna put it in the main compartment because stuff can kind of go to the bottom and it will get too in a second. And what I really like about it is the zipper on it. That thing is super heavy-duty I really don't know how you can break it and I know how you guys all know that once the zipper goes, it kind of the bag falls apart. so Topos done a really good job of putting like a really beefy zipper

 Here you got that nice topo bright, yellow inside really lights up the bag, so you can really see what's at the bottom, so you don't lose anything and then at the top we have another quick grab pocket here. This one kind of goes over the top of the bag, depending on how much you have it packed out. If you got these tightened down more, it's gon na lay a little bit flatter here, so you can have more access to it. Otherwise, it'll kind of be behind the back your neck, which is you know, not a bad spot for a more safety conscious people just so it's harder to get into it, while you're wearing it

 Then you're gon na have on the classic, and it's just got like a kind of like slick feel to it. So the water should bounce right off of that. But again as with all these the same sort of organization, you have you know the stretchy water bottle pockets and compression straps, although they are metal on this one. But it's all sort of the same and then in this middle pocket

 One and two, and then a small, a couple, little loops in front of that. If you want to like clip your keys to one of these just so they don't fall to the bottom of your pocket and then yeah. We have a couple smaller loops here on this other side, so a little bit of organization they're still not too much kind of keeps that minimal style while still having that more luxury feel and the back panel and shoulder straps on these are noticeably by a large Margin much more comfortable, it's really more thick dense, padding all over versus just having this kind of more like mesh. You know crunchy material, this real thick foam and so you'll kind of notice

 So, just a nice little day pack, we don't really need too much. As you can see, we just have a some mesh padding here, not the thickest, not the densest, but it'll get the job done. Unless you really load this thing out, then you may be wishing it had a little bit more, but for normal day to day use these do just fine and then up top. We just have a little grab handle here
