 Not to be outdone I wanted to get him a fixed blade this year but with Case knives you are kind of limited. I wanted to stick with American made knives so I thought why not the standard for American fighting knives..

This knife is nice, really nice

Bank vault solid! The steel holds its edge after several hard tasks and touches back up (with a diamond stone) to a razor. The handle is slimmer than a standard Ka-Bar USMC, so it swims around in the sheath (which I suspect was designed to fit the standard Ka-Bar, not this one) and I think most fans of this design would rather have a thicker handle. However, the heavier pommel is a plus and the abbreviated cross guard is very adaptable to various hand positions. You can't go wrong here

  In one of the old Bill Mauldin WWII cartoons, there's a joke about soldiers throwing the jokers out of their card decks to conserve weight. Anyone that has LIVED out of a backpack for extended periods of time gets that. If it were not intended for a soldier to wear all day long, day in and day out, I'd say go with a thicker sheath. But honestly, after a point, extra thickness is just more than a soldier wants

 I don't recommend this knife for that reason. I'd recommend getting a Ontario RAT 7 instead..

The metal in this knife is very soft. When sharpening the edge keep till bg from side to side. It also feels very light and low carbon. I am a barber and sharpen my personal and professional straight razors by hand so I know the feel of metal and how to sharpen a blade

I feel like if I'm carrying these around all day, this has the same size blade as this but it's just a little bit smaller and definitely fits in the hand just as nice but it's just a little more compact and it has a lot of the same features. So this is the press and flip, so it's real easy. You just push that button right there, same way to fold it in

You know this will actually use gravity and it will drop on its own to close and open But you're gonna find yourself playing with this all day long just flipping it It will lock when it's flipped open and same when it's closed so you can accidentally open it There is a lot of thumb start here that you can use if you don't want to do the whole flip action to open with Your other hand so that's a very cool feature I really like that has a lanyard hole so you can tie to rope to your wrist if you're working up high has a wire stripper here This is the model with the blade storage so in here it will hold five hold five blades Which is really cool, and the way you remove the blades. There's a little button right here What's cool about that it does have a guard up top so if you're cutting like precision cutting like this You're not gonna accidentally push the button right you have to push it here the blade slides out Get your new blade Make sure when you lock it it fully locks in you because you can lock it on the first hole And then it's not fully the way and you want to get it on the second hole on the blade right so yeah That's the big guy right here Solid build feels good my only thing is if I'm gonna be using my construction belt I probably don't need the belt clip as I'm gonna be using the pocket and when you do a lot of heavy cutting You know this wire is actually dig into your finger right so if you're not wearing gloves it might get a little annoying I've used these nice for a couple weeks now just to beat them up a little cut them some sheet rocks and wood You know cardboard the typical stuff, and they've been working great
