You might not even fully realize just how much you want a ski like this. For high-volume ski touring, steep-and-rowdy firm-snow ski mountaineering, and work-week, headlamp exercise skinning, a lightweight set-up based on the K2 WayBack 80 is just the ticket. The featherweight construction flies uphill. The narrow and stiff construction grabs on the steeps but gets bucked around in tougher snow. 
This is a specialized tool. You won't pick these for day-to-day backcountry skiing. Deep, perfect powder snow is enjoyable, but bigger guns will be even more fun. Any sort of poor snow &#40;breakable crust? Slop?&#41; is better handled by a bigger and heavier option. All small skis are under-equipped for tough snow, but the K2 does better than most. It is this ski's more forgiving tough-snow performance that edges it ahead of other close competitors.

Obviously I won't be taking these out for powder laps but for long/fast and/or late season missions this is a great choice at a great price. Match them with a race binding (I mounted a Plum 150), light boots and race skins and you'll have a setup you won&#39;t mind hiking with to find snow in mid summer.

I got these for late spring/summer use and couldn't be happier. They are very light but can still be skied hard. I have found they shine on steep icy slopes (skied bulletproof on Temple SW) and they handle those horrible summer sun cups just fine. Compared to the Waybacks 88s I find they are a bit less grabby in breakable crusts and easier to control on steep ice

 Then you'll be able to shorten up the turn or if you kind of leave a little bit shallower, it'll be more stable with speed. So that's kind of what they're dealing with with the 3D radius and it works really well. Obviously they use it in their upper end skis as well, so we know that that technology works. So yeah, who's this for? Definitely that intermediate to advanced skier who wants something light and quick and energetic

 And then we do get a titanal binding platform under here. So there is some metal to the ski, it's just not as structural as it is in the Kendo and Mantra skis. But great choice overall for that intermediate to advanced skier. Light, like I said, 1,558 grams on the scale here

It doesn't have a whole lot of, you know, it has width-appropriate rocker, so it's not going to hook up super quick like the Deacon 84, nor is it as floaty and drifty as something like the Revolt 121.  Today we got a Volkl Kanjo 84 for you, and this is one of those really kind of overlooked

 skis that a lot of people would be super comfortable on and have a great time.

 It's right in that narrow side of all mountain, kind of blurring the lines of front side and

 all mountain, definitely gets overshadowed by the Kendo 88 for sure, and then kind of

 But this ski really strikes a nice balance for skiers that spend kind of an equal amount

 of time on groomers or in adventurous types of terrain.

 It's built with a Volkl's multi-layer wood core and has a glass frame to it.

 So the big thing about the glass frame is that it really wraps around the outside of

 So much like we see the titanal frame in the Kendo and Mantra skis, this one gets fiberglass.

 And so that makes it a little bit lighter, more maneuverable, quicker for sure.
