You might not even fully realize just how much you want a ski like this. For high-volume ski touring, steep-and-rowdy firm-snow ski mountaineering, and work-week, headlamp exercise skinning, a lightweight set-up based on the K2 WayBack 80 is just the ticket. The featherweight construction flies uphill. The narrow and stiff construction grabs on the steeps but gets bucked around in tougher snow. 
This is a specialized tool. You won't pick these for day-to-day backcountry skiing. Deep, perfect powder snow is enjoyable, but bigger guns will be even more fun. Any sort of poor snow &#40;breakable crust? Slop?&#41; is better handled by a bigger and heavier option. All small skis are under-equipped for tough snow, but the K2 does better than most. It is this ski's more forgiving tough-snow performance that edges it ahead of other close competitors.

Best Backcountry Skis of 2022 - GearLab

Obviously I won't be taking these out for powder laps but for long/fast and/or late season missions this is a great choice at a great price. Match them with a race binding (I mounted a Plum 150), light boots and race skins and you'll have a setup you won&#39;t mind hiking with to find snow in mid summer.

I got these for late spring/summer use and couldn't be happier. They are very light but can still be skied hard. I have found they shine on steep icy slopes (skied bulletproof on Temple SW) and they handle those horrible summer sun cups just fine. Compared to the Waybacks 88s I find they are a bit less grabby in breakable crusts and easier to control on steep ice

You are taking about skis with such huge sweet spots that not a lot of skis can really offer. The skis that I think have the best shot of being the a ski that could pull it off are the moment wildcat 101, jskis master blaster, icelantic nomad 95.

As a thought experiment, what is the single most versatile ski for the widest audience? A lot of all-mountain award winners usually specify advanced+ skiers and have a bias towards one type of terrain or another.

What skis would provide the widest envelope of performance for the widest group of people, eg acceptable performance in everything if not actually the best performance in anything. As in I could give a chargey 220lb western advanced skier and a timid 150lb eastern intermediate the same skis and both would have a decent if not amazing time. 

IDK if this ski exists, but it would probably have:

* rockered/twinned tips and tails 
* moderate weight 
* fat enough width for soft snow
* narrow enough for hardpack
* reasonably stiff flex underfoot
* 15-20m sidecut 
* reasonably soft flex in the tips/tails
* some vibration damping construction (carbon, partial titanal, etc)
* adapts well to progressive as well as traditional mount points 
* adapts well to skiers of variable size/weight 

The closest skis I can think of are Salomon QSTs, Fischer Ranger FRs, Line Sick Days, Elan Ripsticks; none of which seem to be particularly best selling or award winning.

But what exists on the other end of that extreme?</p>

 Both are great options but if cost matters to you, you definitely won't be disappointed with the Enforcer 104. The Wildcat 101 is an outstanding ski too though (speaking from experience with the 108), and it is lighter and quicker than the Enforcer.

Looking for a good all-mountain ski for trees and learning drops that can also cut through crud and occasionally carve groomers. I found enforcers on sale for $580 and I also went on curated and my guy recommended the wildcats for $750 and seems to think I will prefer them, that they will cut through crud better and chatter less. He has been very nice and helpful but at the end of the day he still has a profit incentive to I figured I would ask for second opinions. Thanks in advance!

Nordica Enforcer 104 vs. Moment Wildcat 101

If you can get the Wildcat 101 on sale that's what I'd pick if I were you, based on how you like to ski

In between the skis listed above and trying to take advantage of some of the sales going on here in SLC. Can't demo so really just hoping to get some good info on all of these models, or suggestions for similar skis. I was pretty set on the Deathwishes but the triple camber just irks me. Struggle to drop that amount of cash for a ski with a profile I've never ridden before. 

I'm probably 50/50 on and off piste and trying to get into a bit more free ride. But realistically, I'll still be bombing groomers with my buddies on days where it hasn't snowed in a bit.

Should I be weary of the Deathwishes because of their profile? Any reviews or suggestions appreciated
