You might not even fully realize just how much you want a ski like this. For high-volume ski touring, steep-and-rowdy firm-snow ski mountaineering, and work-week, headlamp exercise skinning, a lightweight set-up based on the K2 WayBack 80 is just the ticket. The featherweight construction flies uphill. The narrow and stiff construction grabs on the steeps but gets bucked around in tougher snow. 
This is a specialized tool. You won't pick these for day-to-day backcountry skiing. Deep, perfect powder snow is enjoyable, but bigger guns will be even more fun. Any sort of poor snow &#40;breakable crust? Slop?&#41; is better handled by a bigger and heavier option. All small skis are under-equipped for tough snow, but the K2 does better than most. It is this ski's more forgiving tough-snow performance that edges it ahead of other close competitors.

Obviously I won't be taking these out for powder laps but for long/fast and/or late season missions this is a great choice at a great price. Match them with a race binding (I mounted a Plum 150), light boots and race skins and you'll have a setup you won&#39;t mind hiking with to find snow in mid summer.

I got these for late spring/summer use and couldn't be happier. They are very light but can still be skied hard. I have found they shine on steep icy slopes (skied bulletproof on Temple SW) and they handle those horrible summer sun cups just fine. Compared to the Waybacks 88s I find they are a bit less grabby in breakable crusts and easier to control on steep ice

 There's definitely stiffer skis out there, but you get a pretty strong ski. In fact, I would say that among skis in the $399 price point level, this is going to be one of the stronger skis you're going to find. 84 underfoot, pretty, pretty darn quick edge to edge. Not a tremendous amount of rocker in this ski, definitely a directional shape

So there's really almost negligible tail rocker in this ski, just kind of some subtle rise right in the end of the ski

 So definitely a ski that's more designed for the resort than anything else. Some of the wider Pandora skis are great for the back country. The Pandora 84, I would really recommend more for a skier who's spending most of their time in bounds. Or maybe you have a wider ski, like maybe you've got a Pandora 104 or a Pandora 110, and you want something that you can take out on those firmer, colder days when you're really just sticking to groomers, but you want to have some fun

 The sidewall basically goes almost all the way to the tip and tail with the half cap on top. So trying to get that edge grip of the sidewall with the snappiness of the cap, that combination makes this ski very energetic but still has that strong edge grip underneath. 84 millimeters underfoot, we're looking at a 13 meter turn radius. So pretty short turner, likes to be on edge, but overall just a really nice versatile shape for true all-mountain skiing, lightweight, easy to maneuver

Just a really nice entry into all-mountain skiing here. Intermediate, advanced, lighter weight, less aggressive experts will really have a nice time on this

 So when you are going to finish that turn, that turned up tail does help make, just makes it more versatile and easier to release. But still just at that 84, it has the least amount in that Pandora line. The build is kind of a half cap, half sidewall. So as the, again in comparing to the wider Pandoras, this has more of that sidewall
