So far, I'm thinking K2 Mindbender 99Ti + Shift 13 MNC bindings + boots that feel good after a fitting. One concern is that the Mindbenders + Shifts might be a bit on the heavy side for uphill, but I'm guessing could probably suck it up..

 I'm unaffiliated and unsponsored, so my feedback is unbiased. These skis rip, they are built to last. They are bombproof. These things grip edge like there's no tomorrow

 The edge grips is tremendous on this ski. There wasn't much chatter at high speed, so that was very, it was really nice. I mean, it might be a little bit stiff, but at the same time, it was very, very solid performer in the bumps. Not the best mogul ski, but very, very, very good

And in the trees and tight trees, it definitely allows you to pivot and disengage the edge. There's not too, too much rocker on the tail, but it still gives you the ability

 They're not the most forgiving skis, so I wouldn't recommend these for, you know, big jumps. This is the Powerwall, and this really helps the ski hold that edge underfoot. I can't say more about how much these grip. So as a hardwood in this core, you can really feel that torsional rigidity in a good way

Seeking an advanced hardcharger?

Look no further than the K2 Mindbender.  At a 99mm waist, this ski is ideal for dominating hardpack, chop, and crud but will still float on a powder day!  With oversized sidewalls and a Titanal Y-Beam throughout the ski, the Mindbender was made to provide the ultimate in edge to edge control and stability.  Its dense wood core and stiffer construction makes for a super damp ride that begs for an aggressive stance.  This is a true high performance downhill ripper!

If you ski variable conditions most of the year like we do here on Mount Hood this is the right kind of ski for you. With their Titanal Y-beam stabilizing the ski you feel like you can cruise straight through those mashed potatoes and chunks of thawing snow. This ski operates best making long turn shapes but K2 has changed the construction of the tail of the Mindbender this year to release better when you need to scrub speed quickly or surf fresh snow. Would recommend this 99 underfoot version if you are looking for something that works just as well on groomers as it does off-piste

Instead of having to pack a ski for groomers and a ski for powder days, the Nordica provides you with an all-in-one option. The Santa Ana 98 performed particularly well in the crud, staying stiff enough to punch through anything the mountain threw at it. It also floats well in powder, feels stable at high speeds, can carve a mean arc, and pivots easily around a mogul field.
While we appreciated the reliability of this ski, we didn't experience any wow-factor and didn't feel a lot of rebound or responsiveness under our feet. That said, it took us everywhere we wanted to go at the resort and handled every snow condition, so there's something to be said for dependability. If you don't need something to excite you and want a single ski that can do everything well, the Santa Ana 98 is your match made in heaven.

NORDICA SANTA ANA 98 | 2021 SKI TEST

 Rather than a high speed tool for strong skiers, this feels more suited to being an everyday ski for intermediates, but at a price point most skiers would be happy with. And that trickle-down graphic from the more freeride-focussed models does make for genuine good looks and rack appeal.

Nordica Santa Ana 88 2020-21

 I had the older, heavier, double-titanal-layer version of the Santa Ana 110 in a 177 cm and hadn’t really skied them before taking them out on vacation. I was hesitant to ski them since 177 cm was longer than my typical ski length but my hesitation disappeared after my first run down a chopped-up groomer. The skis dampened the chop and I absolutely flew down the mountain. I felt like a rockstar every time I skied them in heavy and deep chop
