Don't knock the bluetooth speaker -- even a small investment like that can make a huge difference. I travel a ton for work and I bought a modestly priced JBL Flip 2 years ago for my laptop. It seems to be a wiring issue, which I think I'm probably competent enough to tackle when I finally get sick of it. Rather disappointing. I was expecting better quality from JBL, even in 2020.

Sounds pretty decent when outside of the immediate area too, but not as laser sharp. My one complaint if I had to pick one is the included power cords aren't long enough, but that's so minor that it's practically a non-issue.

At more moderate volumes, the bass depth sounds thicker, but this is not a speaker capable of producing subwoofer-like depth. It makes up for it by pushing out the lows and low-mids with the help of the passive radiators.

I have a pair of JBL LSR305's that I really like. I used to have a pair of LS308's but they were too big for the mix position and the bottom end seemed to lose intelligibility in the low mids and sub bass. My room is decently treated but it's still a small/medium sized room, so of course I have a bass null in certain positions around 100hz.

Battery is great and portability is also a plus. Good design, sturdy and compact which aids in literally every form of shenanigans one wants to get into 👍🏻

These are not speakers for typical audio system, but rather designed as studio monitors and really more for this type of application.

Bottom line, research Tribit and Trelab for speakers as good for half the price. Or spend the $ on Klipsch for good audio engineering, not waterproofness.

But for the modest price, these monitors deliver fantastic performance. For a home studio, they are an excellent value.
