This is the boom box to JBL's new jumbo portable bluetooth speaker. This thing is designed to put out some serious volume with thumping bass, and it certainly does that. But the question is: how does it stack up against ultimate ears? New portable beats the hyper boom. Let'S find out shall we first things: first price: these aren't cheap the boom box to lists for $ 500

 It just sounds, fuller and more dynamic, and it's top volume and has no indoor or outdoor mode. Like the original did, you can link up wirelessly to the latest JBL bluetooth speakers, but sadly you can't link to the original boombox. Now my somewhat superficial 11 year old kid saw me playing around these speakers outside and after taking a quick look, he declared that the boombox sounded better, except he hadn't really listened to them. He was more basing the sound on the looks, the speakers

 But the question is: how does it stack up against ultimate ears? New portable beats the hyper boom. The hyper boom is $ 400, but this is the type of speaker you get when you want to take the party on the go tailgating the beach. Maybe this is even the main speaker in your house or apartment

 I do like the design of the boombox and it's an excellent portable party speaker that punches out deeper bass and richer sound than the original, but the hyper booth is the better overall sounding speaker indoors and outdoors, and it does cost $ 100 less.  The only thing you gotta watch out for though is just to make sure that you don't push these radiators in. Now when it comes to tech specs, the Boombox 2 has been upgraded to Bluetooth 5.1 where as the original Boombox uses Bluetooth 4.2

 So personally I avoid using this speaker past 85% volume when in doors. But also the bass on both boomboxes doesn't increase linearly as you increase the volume. The bass on both of these speakers increases up until they hit 80% volume and then from there on out just the mids and highs get louder. So when used at high volumes, even though these speakers are blaring out a ton of mids and highs, since the physical bass isn't there to back it up these speakers sound a little shallow in my opinion

 The original Boombox used to retail for $450 when it first came out. But then its retail price got changed to $500 in mid 2019. But now the original Boombox is typically on sale for $400 these days. Where as the new Boombox 2 currently retails for $500

 And here's my problem with that, like I mentioned earlier the Boombox 2 puts an emphasis on mids and a little bit on the highs which means vocals are very pronounced. But the problem with that is that if you use this speaker at higher volumes in doors then the highs can get ear piercing at times. So personally I avoid using this speaker past 85% volume when in doors. But also the bass on both boomboxes doesn't increase linearly as you increase the volume
