Awesome decision on my part! It cooks my rice (jasmine and basmati) sooo perfectly. I like the pot in this rice cooker way better than the one that was in my Aroma. The Aroma would almost overcook the rice sometimes, and even if it was just nicely cooked, the rice stuck. The Instant Pot does not stick! It's a much better coating

The keep warm setting though I don't think you should use for long periods cause it will keep cooking the items in the pot, so be careful with that.

The only thing is, you have to unplug and eat right away, otherwise, the bottom will start to burn and get crusty. Just have to plan accordingly and not let the rice sit once it's done.

You need to pay attention to when the red light isn't on anymore (meaning its not actively cooking) and then set a 10+ min. timer.

That a big range! The cooker also comes with a steaming basket. Somewhere in the materials it says you can steam "veggies and fish!" YAY! Again, for how long? Can I steam it with rice or only with the Steam button, which requires you to set time manually? Can I steam chicken? Should the veggies be frozen or defrosted or fresh? The booklet says, "We have partnered with chefs, authors, and bloggers to compile a collection of recipes that we hope you enjoy!" I can find any Instant Pot Zest Rice cooker recipes online! In short, the machine seems fine, but not user friendly for a first time rice cooker owner who would like to use all the advertised features (other than cooking rice).

The media could not be loaded. I just wanted a small rice cooker for a 2 person household, so went for the smaller model. I have tried it again & again and it boils over every single time and I'm left with the mess that I was hoping to avoid by buying a rice cooker. I followed the instructions, I soaked the rice, I was careful with proportions of water and rice, but no luck at all

Those cheap cookers, no more than $25 spued, hissed, and foamed with rice sticking to the pot's bottom. I just wasn't going to spring for a$200 fuzzy logic rice cooker. The Instant Zest has none of the issues of the cheap rice cookers and can be purchased in the $50 to $40 range. If you have an Instant Pot it will cook rice to, but it's much to large and difficult to clean whereas the Zest can be cleaned up with a damp sponge and takes up little space on your counter

This is a great, little, no-frills rice cooker. If you like the thick pots, digital controls, and features of expensive Japanese imported rice cookers, this is not what you want. However, if you want a small, cheap cooker to make white rice, look no further. The rice cooker is attractive looking

Either people are putting in too much water to the cooker, or they’re forgetting to empty the reservoir. I like the size of it. Doesn’t take up a ton of space. Easier to put away in a cupboard

This rice cooker is too small. I use three or three and a half cups of rice and it barely fits this amount when cooked. Sometimes, I have to cook the rice a second time because it remains somewhat uncooked with one cycle. I do not like that it does not make a difference for white and brown rice or for difference sizes of rice which may be the reason why sometimes my rice is uncooked

I have had no troubles with liquid sputtering from the steam vent but I usually use this to cook 2 cups of rice or quinoa and it's been perfect every time. I wouldn't cook more than 2 cups of quinoa though since the pot is basically full when the quinoa is cooked. You might be able to get away with 2.5 cups but you'll be pushing it

As with all rice cookers, its capacity is stated based on the Japanese gō, a 180 mL equivalent measuring cup that is the standard service size. So, this "1.5 cup" rice cooker is designed to make up to 270 mL of uncooked rice in a single batch, but I find that for middle-aged me, 120 mL is a more reasonable serving size, so I can get two full servings if I make 240 mL rice. I normally use Japanese "Japonica" medium grain rice, because I got tired of stocking so many different kinds of rice in my house (long grain, medium grain, Jasmine, Basmati, etc, etc)
