While most aspects of its build are dialed, the important job of slowing and stopping this bike is left to a set of 2-piston Shimano MT200 brakes. While these brakes work, they feel a tad underpowered considering how hard you can ride this bike, and the long levers take a little getting used to. Instantly bought new lighter and faster rolling tyres, 2.6 on the front and 2.35 on the back, (tubeless). 

TYRES are the big dissapointment, sooooo heavy, great traction even on the flat, which means you have to drive the thing along.

I purchased the Marin 2022 RZ 29 2 after a long time of deliberating over my options. I honestly think that for a bike at this price point, it should be at the top of your list. Bicycles Online did the hard work putting most of the bike together before packing, boxing and sending to me, I finished it off once it arrived with front wheel, bars and dropper post. Apart from tightening a loose screw on the brake caliper, I was ready roll within 45 mins of the boxed bike arriving at my home

 A few adjustments on the shocks and cockpit to dial this bad boy in, and I love it, it looks fantastic and it rides superb, thank you Marin and Bicycles Online :)

An Awesome Purchase

Coming from a Merida Hardtail this is obviously a huge upgrade for me but having test ridden the Specialized Epic and Stumpjumer demo fleet prior to purchasing this, I can't see where the extra $5000 is. The Rift Zone 2 rides beautifully on all types of trails. I even got my first KOM the other night. I thought I would be disappointed with the lack of lockout on the rear suspension but it's stiff enough not to bother me on my 30min ride to work
