And it's paired with, you know DW link it pedals so well pills just like the regular ritmo. I Mean you get on this thing. It's got the hover bike effect like you're just sitting in the saddle spinning

 Tom The traction just a really balanced feel. I mean doesn't feel like a cheap bike, you know? We we tested bikes three times the price of this. didn't we? Yeah, absolutely time. Something isn't that hard to believe when you think about house with this bike is Mm-hmm there's bikes three times the price here and those bikes are definitely not three times better than this one

 you know they can't take a matchmaker clamp, which means that you're a little limited in terms of your cockpit setup. and then the dropper post on this bike comes with sort of like the old style like top of the bar push with your push down with your thumb type lever which was a little antiquated feeling. but you just can't complain at this price given what you're getting. Ibis Ripmo AF Review - 2020 Bible of Bike Tests

 I've got to give it to Ibis for really putting a new perspective on what we can expect from this category. All right. So who is this bike for? Well, it's an incredibly versatile trail bike that's just his home on long, epic rides in the mountains. As it is on a short local lunch lap, I have no hesitation at all taking it to the bike park

 It's a different world these days, and the building wave of bike innovations seems to continuously swell with no crest in sight. But the latest and greatest isn't what defines our enjoyment. And you know what? I'll be the first to admit, I sometimes get a little too lost in the luster of those new shiny parts. So when my buddy Sean at N Plus One Bikes asked if I'd be interested in reviewing the Ibis Ritmo Af, a sensibly priced aluminum frame trail bike that's been wildly praised for the last couple of years, I actually saw this as an opportunity to see just how things have trickled down to the very core of it all

 Still fun to ride. It's not just a great bike for someone coming into the sport, it's a bike that even a seasoned rider can have a total blast riding. It's modern, progressive geometry, can tackle all sorts of terrain and handle very aggressive riding, but it's also not so long in slack that you'll be penalized for approaching this bike with more relaxed attitude. The Dw link suspension design is known for its well-balanced feel and great climbing efficiency, but still sits in that sweet spot of offering calm and controlled performance on the descents

Is the Ibis Ripmo AF still the best value in 2022?

Geometry and suspension are where the money should go, so I applaud Ibis for focusing on that with the Ripmo AF. All the Deore reviews say it works as well as the more expensive Shimano stuff, so it’s really just weight, which shouldn’t matter much for a bike in this category. A top end drive train might save you a pound or so—who cares? And the 4-piston Deore brakes should be great too, no big loss there.

The Ibis has a very good suspension platform and suspension components, although the other components (drivetrain/brakes) are worse than similarly-priced direct to consumer brands. Would you consider the better suspension package worth the trade-off on drivetrain/brakes? What are your overall opinions on the Ripmo?

Opinions on the Ibis Ripmo AF Deore?

Currently my Ripmo AF sits at 39lbs for bike park. Usually around 36 for pedaling season but I am 5'9" 140lbs with a fused ankle and skinny lets due to a motorcycle 10 years ago left me with a limp and a lot of pain so exercising mass/power into my legs is near impossible. I have the endurance but the power just isn't there. I'm ready to upgrade to something lighter and all around better

 On This bike compared to the Diamondback I feel like I was between the wheels - Totally. - Like I was way more stable, but with the Diamondback on those tricky climbs, it felt like I was perched above and like way more tippy where this just more stable. - And So, even though the salsa is a 29er, it still has really different geometry from the Diamondback. - Yeah, geometry that works well

 So Which of those makes the most sense? Well You could save $300 and do that SLX bike. The Timberjack XT Comes with the nicer MT501 brakes that really impressed us. And It's 35 Gold fork should, outperform the 35 silver TK fork on the less expensive bike. So yeah, I think we choose the Timberjack XT

 It's not super noteworthy. Like The geometry is pretty standard for a hardtail. It has 29 inch wheels. It has like solid parts

 While this might be appropriate for exceptionally tall or short riders, it isn’t necessarily true for those of average height. You might hear or read online that if you’re under around 5’6”, you should stick to 27.5-inch wheels. And while this might have been the case when these wheel sizes were in their infancy, most people can now find well-fitting 29ers

 All else equal, if you’re tall and enjoy relatively straight singletrack with few hairpin turns, we’d wager you’ll be happy on a 29er. However, if you’re fairly short and enjoy tight and twisty trails, you might prefer 27.5-inch wheels. But don’t let your height be the determining factor—you might find that you favor the stability of a 29er regardless of how tall you are

 While riding the 2019 Timberjack on technical trails was pretty fun, there’s only so much you can (safety) do without rear suspension. As a result, the bike really shined on smooth and more buffed-out trails. The more aggressive WTB Vigilante tire provided a ton of traction at the front—especially on sandy or blown-out sections—while the WTB Ranger rolled fast on the rear yet still provided plenty of grip. I found myself railing berms, popping off trailside lips, and manualing down the trail—what a good time it was! In the hands of the right rider, the Timberjack is an admirable descender, and one that can hold its own against short-travel full-suspension bikes on most terrain

Switchback Travel | Salsa Timberjack Mountain Bike Review

 This here bike is the Gx, the 29er Gx which is the top end which comes in at 24.99 but the bike also is available in a frame set and even comes in a single speed option. so I'm just shy of 510 and Salsa recommends medium for my height and this bike actually fit me really well. If you look at the first generation and second generation Timber Jack side by side, you'll notice that they look pretty different

 So from time to time I kind of did wish that I had that rear shock because you know, when you're climbing and you've got that rear shock, it kind of remain keeps that wheel planted to the ground. That would have been beneficial, especially on some really chunky climbs that I dealt with. but I definitely got used to it on this bike. and I actually believe that the length of this bike kind of separated the front from the back

4 degree head tube angle as opposed to the 67.6 degree headtube angle on the previous version. So to compensate for that long front center, they had to steepen the seat tube angle to make sure that you maintain a nice balance on the bike and be able to kind of shift around the bike as well as just maintaining a nice pedal efficiency. This is an aluminum frame made out of Salsa's proprietary double and triple butted aluminum tubing
