And it's paired with, you know DW link it pedals so well pills just like the regular ritmo. I Mean you get on this thing. It's got the hover bike effect like you're just sitting in the saddle spinning

 Tom The traction just a really balanced feel. I mean doesn't feel like a cheap bike, you know? We we tested bikes three times the price of this. didn't we? Yeah, absolutely time. Something isn't that hard to believe when you think about house with this bike is Mm-hmm there's bikes three times the price here and those bikes are definitely not three times better than this one

 you know they can't take a matchmaker clamp, which means that you're a little limited in terms of your cockpit setup. and then the dropper post on this bike comes with sort of like the old style like top of the bar push with your push down with your thumb type lever which was a little antiquated feeling. but you just can't complain at this price given what you're getting.  I've got to give it to Ibis for really putting a new perspective on what we can expect from this category. All right. So who is this bike for? Well, it's an incredibly versatile trail bike that's just his home on long, epic rides in the mountains. As it is on a short local lunch lap, I have no hesitation at all taking it to the bike park

 It's a different world these days, and the building wave of bike innovations seems to continuously swell with no crest in sight. But the latest and greatest isn't what defines our enjoyment. And you know what? I'll be the first to admit, I sometimes get a little too lost in the luster of those new shiny parts. So when my buddy Sean at N Plus One Bikes asked if I'd be interested in reviewing the Ibis Ritmo Af, a sensibly priced aluminum frame trail bike that's been wildly praised for the last couple of years, I actually saw this as an opportunity to see just how things have trickled down to the very core of it all

 Still fun to ride. It's not just a great bike for someone coming into the sport, it's a bike that even a seasoned rider can have a total blast riding. It's modern, progressive geometry, can tackle all sorts of terrain and handle very aggressive riding, but it's also not so long in slack that you'll be penalized for approaching this bike with more relaxed attitude. The Dw link suspension design is known for its well-balanced feel and great climbing efficiency, but still sits in that sweet spot of offering calm and controlled performance on the descents

 It's modern, progressive geometry, can tackle all sorts of terrain and handle very aggressive riding, but it's also not so long in slack that you'll be penalized for approaching this bike with more relaxed attitude. While the spike is an incredible value, I feel like you could take costs out of the equation and still put this up against spikes at a much higher price point. Is the Ibis Ripmo AF still the best value in 2022?

Geometry and suspension are where the money should go, so I applaud Ibis for focusing on that with the Ripmo AF. All the Deore reviews say it works as well as the more expensive Shimano stuff, so it’s really just weight, which shouldn’t matter much for a bike in this category. A top end drive train might save you a pound or so—who cares? And the 4-piston Deore brakes should be great too, no big loss there.

The Ibis has a very good suspension platform and suspension components, although the other components (drivetrain/brakes) are worse than similarly-priced direct to consumer brands. Would you consider the better suspension package worth the trade-off on drivetrain/brakes? What are your overall opinions on the Ripmo?

Opinions on the Ibis Ripmo AF Deore?

Currently my Ripmo AF sits at 39lbs for bike park. Usually around 36 for pedaling season but I am 5'9" 140lbs with a fused ankle and skinny lets due to a motorcycle 10 years ago left me with a limp and a lot of pain so exercising mass/power into my legs is near impossible. I have the endurance but the power just isn't there. I'm ready to upgrade to something lighter and all around better

 I've had this bike out in just tons of grip. I also like how the new Fox Fork has got the little bleed ports just jumping up and down elevation this weekend and definitely put that to use. Rocky Mountain have really gone what I would call off the deep end with bike adjustments, which is really cool. You've got this Ride 9 system in the back, which is a pretty elegant solution for nine different positions of the rear shock mounting point

[music] It's a late summer's day in Bellingham and I am fortunate to be riding the new Rocky Mountain Altitude Carbon 70. It's a pretty big bike. It's got 170 millimeter up front, 160 in the rear 29 inch wheels this year and it's designed to be kind of their all out enduro race machine. Definitely a pretty natural bike for me right out of the box

 just wants me to go faster and faster faster. And I'm starting to feel like I'm on a freaking Ews stage or a local enduro. Yeah, you really don't even wince when you're coming up on big hits. Spike just really soaks everything up that X2 in the rear is just gobbling

 Yeah it just feels like a like it's just the right size for kind of going hard and kind of feels like an intense bike. like it just wants to get rowdy and push the limit of speed. One of the interesting things about these uh Fox Fox 36 up front and the box rear shock as I'm running the damping literally wide open just to kind of get the speeds that I am used to out of it. 2021 Rocky Mountain Altitude Carbon 70 // Bike Review

 The suspension feel of the Smash is more akin to the Altitude as well — the Smash is substantially more supportive and poppy feeling than the Gnarvana, and again, that makes it a tidy match for the Altitude.As a MulletRocky Mountain doesn’t specifically market the Altitude as being mullet-able, but between the comparatively steep headtube angle and the high degree of adjustability afforded by the Ride 9 system, I had a hunch that it could actually work pretty well, so I threw a 27.5’’ rear wheel on for a few rides, first with the Ride 9 chips moved to the middle position (#5). I estimated the resulting headtube angle to be about 64°, and the bottom bracket was a few mm lower than in the slack (#1) position that I preferred with the bike set up as stock

 We might not all smash racetracks and stand on podiums like Jesse Melamed, but we can all relate to the feeling of committing to ride a little faster or hitting that feature you usually skip over.”As we’ll get into in this review, that description makes a lot of sense. The Altitude is certainly a capable Enduro bike (and Jesse has clearly proven that he can absolutely fly on it), but it also feels a whole lot more versatile as an everyday Trail bike than many other Enduro bikes with similar travel numbers, too.The FrameRocky Mountain offers the Altitude in both an aluminum and carbon frame, and in versions for both 27

 I’m tall enough that it mostly isn’t too much of an issue for me, and while I’m still a big fan of 27.5’’ wheels in a lot of circumstances, mullet setups are mostly a middle ground that I don’t find to be of any particularly great benefit to me, personally. I just don’t feel like a mullet claws back enough of the handling advantages that draw me to 27.5” wheels to be a substantial improvement over a full 29” setup on that front, and the mullet setup introduces its own quirks in how the rear wheel tracks behind the front

 So basically, this front part here that's replaceable. So, potentially in the future, if Rocky wanted to change the size of shock that works on this bike, they could just offer another little link, you know, make that really swapped out. So A little bit of future-proofing there. Let's go over some of the geometry numbers

 It's a bike that had a very strong debut under Jesse Melamed in the Enduro World Series. Probably Feels nice for Rocky to launch a bike and have it tick off some victories right away.. The bike has 160 millimeters of rear travel with 170 millimeter fork

 I mentioned them before. They're just annoying and I wish they didn't rattle, but it's fixable. That's the good news. And Then finally,, this bike just doesn't really offer the best value, like I said

 You Do need to swap out the brake mount, but it's a pretty quick process and kinda allows you to fine tune that bike to your liking. And Then one final detail is the fact that this has a modular shock mouth. So basically, this front part here that's replaceable. So, potentially in the future, if Rocky wanted to change the size of shock that works on this bike, they could just offer another little link, you know, make that really swapped out
