And it's paired with, you know DW link it pedals so well pills just like the regular ritmo. I Mean you get on this thing. It's got the hover bike effect like you're just sitting in the saddle spinning

 Tom The traction just a really balanced feel. I mean doesn't feel like a cheap bike, you know? We we tested bikes three times the price of this. didn't we? Yeah, absolutely time. Something isn't that hard to believe when you think about house with this bike is Mm-hmm there's bikes three times the price here and those bikes are definitely not three times better than this one

 you know they can't take a matchmaker clamp, which means that you're a little limited in terms of your cockpit setup. and then the dropper post on this bike comes with sort of like the old style like top of the bar push with your push down with your thumb type lever which was a little antiquated feeling. but you just can't complain at this price given what you're getting. Ibis Ripmo AF Review - 2020 Bible of Bike Tests

 I've got to give it to Ibis for really putting a new perspective on what we can expect from this category. All right. So who is this bike for? Well, it's an incredibly versatile trail bike that's just his home on long, epic rides in the mountains. As it is on a short local lunch lap, I have no hesitation at all taking it to the bike park

 It's a different world these days, and the building wave of bike innovations seems to continuously swell with no crest in sight. But the latest and greatest isn't what defines our enjoyment. And you know what? I'll be the first to admit, I sometimes get a little too lost in the luster of those new shiny parts. So when my buddy Sean at N Plus One Bikes asked if I'd be interested in reviewing the Ibis Ritmo Af, a sensibly priced aluminum frame trail bike that's been wildly praised for the last couple of years, I actually saw this as an opportunity to see just how things have trickled down to the very core of it all

 Still fun to ride. It's not just a great bike for someone coming into the sport, it's a bike that even a seasoned rider can have a total blast riding. It's modern, progressive geometry, can tackle all sorts of terrain and handle very aggressive riding, but it's also not so long in slack that you'll be penalized for approaching this bike with more relaxed attitude. The Dw link suspension design is known for its well-balanced feel and great climbing efficiency, but still sits in that sweet spot of offering calm and controlled performance on the descents

 It's modern, progressive geometry, can tackle all sorts of terrain and handle very aggressive riding, but it's also not so long in slack that you'll be penalized for approaching this bike with more relaxed attitude. Is the Ibis Ripmo AF still the best value in 2022?

Geometry and suspension are where the money should go, so I applaud Ibis for focusing on that with the Ripmo AF. All the Deore reviews say it works as well as the more expensive Shimano stuff, so it’s really just weight, which shouldn’t matter much for a bike in this category. A top end drive train might save you a pound or so—who cares? And the 4-piston Deore brakes should be great too, no big loss there.

The Ibis has a very good suspension platform and suspension components, although the other components (drivetrain/brakes) are worse than similarly-priced direct to consumer brands. Would you consider the better suspension package worth the trade-off on drivetrain/brakes? What are your overall opinions on the Ripmo?

Opinions on the Ibis Ripmo AF Deore?

Currently my Ripmo AF sits at 39lbs for bike park. Usually around 36 for pedaling season but I am 5'9" 140lbs with a fused ankle and skinny lets due to a motorcycle 10 years ago left me with a limp and a lot of pain so exercising mass/power into my legs is near impossible. I have the endurance but the power just isn't there. I'm ready to upgrade to something lighter and all around better

Check out a transition sentinel, ripmo AF, norco optic, evil offering. I'd look for a full suspension 29" bike with like 120-150mm of travel, that would be fun on easy trails and still rip a bike park, and give you room to progress to those trails that seem scary, but would be way more fun on a new bike. I'm about 6'3" and 210, and at your height you'll want a 29er for a trail bike definitely.

Hi all,  I've got a big boy job now, and I'd like to upgrade from the same hardtail XC that I've ridden for a decade.  I'm 6'4", 250 pounds, and 99% of my riding is trail riding with my wife, with a few flow trails thrown in - but I just moved pretty close to some great lift serviced runs, and I could see myself getting more into that in the future.  Zero interest in anything super intense though (or super techy, for that matter) - I just like going for a ride in the woods and sometimes going zoom in the woods :)

I've never ridden a full suspension bike that's the right size for me, and I've only really spent a couple days on a 29er - but I've got years of time on my shitty little 26" hardtail and I'm pretty comfortable on it.  I really want a full suspension - it just seems way more fun.

I know it seems silly, for me to have spent so much time riding all over the world and not know this, but I really don't want to get into the gearhead culture that seems to be required to buy a bike - I'm a gearhead in a million other things, and I don't really have the brainspace to handle that here too, so I'm really hoping y'all can point me at like 2-3 options (or there will be a consensus, ideally) and I can see what I can get in my part of the world.  I appreciate any advice you can give - I'm also happy to swap (I LOVE shopping for music gear).

I think basically - I'd really like to get a Camry - i.e. something that's not flashy, that's not outrageous, but is solid, is comfortable, (gets good mileage, if we want to stretch the metaphor) and will work for the next decade, because it will never die, and if it does everybody will carry parts.  Want to stay away from carbon, because of the maintenance and I don't care about weight (I'm fat anyways, a couple pounds of frame isn't going to matter when compared to the abuse it can take).

I'm in Montreal, open to used/second hand (would prefer it, really) and have a budget of up to about $6k CAD/$5kUSD.

I know there are shortages, but I'm hoping if I start looking now I'll be able to find something for the 2022 season - but I don't even know what to look for - help?

Need buying the 'Toyota Camry' of XC bikes

 Finally, the medium Optic has a wheelbase of 1196 millimeters which is dead average and doesn't draw back or make the bike excel based on geometry numbers. It's clear Norco wanted to make a bike that's meant for throwing around and being playful while exceeding expectations on gnarlier trails For a bike with only 125 millimeters of rear travel, this model, being the C2, has some mixed specs for the price of five thousand dollars. The most important is the suspension, which Norco specs with a Rockshox Pike Select Plus in the front and a Super Deluxe Ultimate in the rear up front. The Pike is nice to have, but I would like to see an ultimate tier fork on this type of bike, especially with its aggressive trail bike mood

 Massive vertical mountain near us. Everything else was perfect. We've established that this bike is very playful, but how does it feel on bike park style flow trails? Let's take it to Doothy for a free ride test. Oh, that lip has gotten ruined

The Pike is nice to have, but I would like to see an ultimate tier fork on this type of bike, especially with its aggressive trail bike mood. Since the travel ratio is different than most other bikes, the Optic gains a unique feel. The main discovery this led me to was that this bike can feel like a hardtail or a capable all-mountain bike

Norco Optic Bike Review

 (light happy music) Like All the other bikes at Field Test We're using Control Tires. They're from Maxxis EXO+ casing so, fairly sturdy tires. Tire pressure at 21-23 PSI Both Kazimer and I weigh the same, 155 lbs. So, we can ride the exact same suspension settings

 I definitely was on a little more of a knife edge on this bike,. if you mess up there less travel, there's probably less traction, you know, than something more forgiving,. So, just something to note, yeah. Now The other thing we already talked about it, those resin pads and rotors, this bike deserves something better,

 Tire pressure at 21-23 PSI Both Kazimer and I weigh the same, 155 lbs. So, we can ride the exact same suspension settings. In the back, 30% sag and we're on a large with a 480mm reach. So its pretty roomy

 We Live in a place where it rains a lot, so for me, I would have to swap out the rotors and the pads if I purchased this bike. - Now The bike is speced pretty well for how much it costs, carbon frame, obviously they have to save money somewhere, the cockpit, it looks pretty cheap. - Kinda Like that house brand stuff they used to have, its just not as great, it works fine. - Doesn't matter, it works fine
