It weighs a mere 8.7 ounces, making it one of the lightest jackets in the review, but also has a cinchable hood and hem. Despite the jacket's high performance, it fits a bit boxy and has less than ideal construction. The two-part adjustment of the hood helps seal the cold but feels cumbersome compared to some of the other models. Minor complaints aside, this feature-rich, lightweight, packable jacket comes at a remarkably low price.

The thing you could compare it to is that ghost whisperer by i think mountain hardwear makes that and i think those are running about seven or eight ounces

 This guy's got way more down it's way warmer, considering the weight and what you're getting out of it. I think it's a superior garment. I don't personally own one of the ghost whisperers, but i have a lot of friends that do, i think they're using 800 fill down. So this is a thousand fill down

 This is basically a cutting edge ultra light jacket, it's about as good of something you can buy. That'S non-cottage industry down jacket, warm to work weight ratio that that is available to a wider audience. So this thing it's made out of a d7 nylon, it's as thin as they're, really using on the market right now for for a nylon as a shell, and then it's filled with they say a thousand fill weight down, and that is far surpasses pretty much anything Else any name brand jacket, you're going to get usually 800 fill, is about as high as they go. Maybe some are using 900 there's a few companies that are maybe not considered cottage industry now that are using 900, 950 and great stuff

 However, it couples in all the normal features of a normal jacket that you buy. I believe this guy retails for 439 dollars, so it is a bit pricey. Definitely, but it's it's the quality you're getting if you're getting a down parka to begin with it's going to be expensive, so this guy really excels as far as the the weight goes, it's an incredible layer for that and it's one of those things you throw in Your backpack and you pretty much forget it's there, so i fully endorse this as a jacket. I use it all the time, especially i mean it's not a daily wear

35 ounces between these two, given the much lighter material used by the cottage companies, so the weight penalty for down pants instead of long underwear, practically disappears when you go with the cottage options now, the trade-offs sizing is a painting That you know what, when you go cottage, the cuts are custom, which sounds like a good thing, but in my opinion, it's a double-edged sword as I never feel like. You'Re truly talking the same languages of the company and this au comes along with much higher pricing. Much longer way times and no returns really they're, also not as durable goose feet uses a fine down. So there is some leakage

 Maybe that's my opinion, but I stand by it and, as I mentioned they're better looking for whatever that's worth, you don't look like you make your own clothes one last side point on these pants. If you're between sizes, I suggest sizing down the medium worked great. For me, and I often have to size up to a large now, what are the trade-offs for going retail over cottage, let's consider as an alternative down pants from a cottage company called goose goose feet. Gary excuse me, these pants weigh five point: six seven ounces and have double the fill weight so they're significantly lighter than the mod bells and they're significantly warmer

 For trips like these, I've found that I can't escape the need for a second pair of pants. My hiking pants can easily accumulate ice around the ankles, and I like having pants to sleep in. Drafts and 3am whizzes aren't fun when you're pantsless in a quilt, and I generally find that sleeping in clothes provides a bit of "warmth stability," too. 

 I can pull this thing out of my pack with my quilt and XLite already in it, slip the ZLite in, puff up the XLite, and I'm ready for bed. I appreciate that. If I were expecting heavy snow, I'd have brought a big sheet of polycro to burrito under for ingress and egress, and that would have been fine. I would never use this thing if there were any chance for rain, but for this kind of scenario, it works really nicely

 Worn alone, they provide nearly zero warmth, and when exposed to a draft, they quickly evaporate any wicked sweat and cause a chill. I'd wear them under my PSZs if I wanted them while moving, but otherwise, screw 'em. The M65s are probably warmer, but the fleece pants keep my legs warm into the teens, so I invariably wind up bringing the lighter option. 

 They can be flipped back over the wrists single-handedly (where they still provide some warmth), and then moved back over the hands without ceremony. Getting them secured over trekking poles is a bit fussy, but design improvements may have helped this. I'd love a very slightly larger set of these, but in general, they're near perfect. Easy operation and the benefits of mittens, yet warmer because they encompass your thumb, and you don't have to take mittens on and off all day

 If you can keep your head warm you're gon na stay warmer and more comfortable out in the backcountry. Another cool feature that I like about this is that it comes with its own stuff sack here. It is Mont Bell branded since 1975, it's a year older than I am Bicentennial baby myself, but yeah has his own little stuff sack. So the jacket will stuff down into here - and you could also use this as potentially like a pillow

 You know when you get into your tent at night, so let me get the jacket off. I'M gon na stuff it into this little stuff. Sack I'm gon na show you how well it compresses. So what you do

 The zipper is also water, repellant too. So keep that in mind. Another thing to keep in mind, too, is that the filling is 90 % down and 10 % feather so quality built in here. You know so crude sewn through construction, as I said, really really very well built and put together jacket, and it's extremely warm so we'll just give you kind of put the hood on and I'll just kind of give you a once-around just so you can see the Backside of it really really nice, it's almost like tailor-made
