 I've been using soft water and I know distilled water would be better but that gets expensive. I also have to dust my house every 2 days.

Overall this unit is excellent at doing what it is meant to do, humidify. It's quiet and does a good job of adding humidity. There are a lot of nooks and crannies to clean around. The problem is all the WHITE DUST that it generates

The Crane Travel Humidifier operates differently from other travel humidifiers that I have used. It starts when you activate it; no warm-up needed. The biggest problem is its output is too small. If you were in a hotel room the size of a telephone booth, it would be perfect

 It did have the effect of increasing the humidity in our hotel room in the California mountains, but it was a small increase. And because of its small size (which is great for travelling) it needs to be refilled with water every 2-3 hours.

Suggestion for Use, especially one and two star reviewers

 I neglected to use distilled water and have tried my darndest to clean both the inside and top of the disc with white vinegar swab (soaked and let sit an hour), but can only get a very fine mist now and the top of the device feels warm like it’s working too hard. I love how portable it is and have taken just the unit (used cup at friend’s house) on trips out to Utah and put it on at night time (out of arms reach). Purchased mine in January 2019. Would probably still be going if I did not use hard water…

 This product won't work without the wick or a dry wick. You'll have to use a soaking wet wick. I poured in a full cup of water, please ensure the top part of it (with the led red/ blue light) never submerges below the water. Normally, if using the cup it comes with the grep top of the cup has a cover which stops it from ever submerging or used incorrectly

 Well worth it to get a second one. This is small enough to tuck into a rollaboard bag for a short trip, super easy to use, and comes with a carry case for storage. Soak the filter for 30 minutes or so before use, and squeeze out the filter before packing it away for your trip back home.
