 So i've got the v2 down here on the bottom and you can see right away. There are fewer screws in the handle scales, and this was kind of the big knock on the original v1 was that it's got a lot of screws in the handle and that has to do with the construction. The internal steel, partial liner, runs right down the middle here and that's what these two screws are for to attach the liner to the g10 scale. So you've got two screws here: two in the clip plate and then another two on the back

 Carry also removes the need for that front, filler tab and those extra screws, and it actually brings the weight down on the version two. By about a quarter of an ounce, you can take a look and see that overall, the knife hasn't changed a lot, but just a little bit of refinement with those two changes. So i would say for the v2 that this is unequivocably an improvement over the version. One, even though the differences are subtle and there's only two major changes, i'd say this is a big improvement, both functionally and aesthetically

 Now we'll take a quick look at the hog deca with a couple of other knives that are often compared. We'Ve got the benchmade bug out in black cerakote and cf elite, so you're looking at a weight difference of a little bit more than a half ounce and that's going to be from the g10 handle scales on the deca. You can consider that an improvement in materials, as well as the 20cv versus the s30v blade, but the overall size and design is pretty similar with bar style, ambidextrous locks, dual thumb, studs and deep, carry clips and then we'll also take a look at the deca with The spyderco para 3, another similar size here, almost an ounce heavier, but you can see the blade stock thickness is quite a bit thicker you're, looking at .09 inches on the deca and the bug out versus 0

 The full size has better ergos. The FRN handles feel a bit plasticky to me for the price. If you want an axis lock I would spring for the Hogue deka, rsk, or mini rsk instead.

Between these knives, which one should I get for an EDC pocket knife

 So let's go ahead and jump into, oh, I'm sorry, one thing I should mention. I have reviewed the Deca before and I have reviewed, in fact, the Deca that looked almost identical to this with the One Cliff blade. There are other blades available to you, by the way. But I reviewed it and I gave some feedback

 And I'll go ahead and I will measure it up real quick and we're gonna see this guy comes in just over 3 inches worth of blade, which is a thing. And we're also gonna see that this guy comes in at, let's see here, coming in just under, well at 2.5 ounces or so. So it is a pretty lightweight knife

 Here it is against the Spydeco Delica. And what we see here is not a particularly large knife. Here it is against the Spydeco PM2. What we see here is it's a little big in the Delica but not as big as the PM2

 That's just crazy. But yeah, I mean, if you don't want to wait, is it worth spending $140 on this thing right now? Maybe a little bit more if it's one of the more flashy ones?  Yeah, there's a small chance they could fail. I don't know what Hoag's warranty situation is, but I would venture to guess if something goes wrong with the Omega Springs and it wasn't you being dumb with a knife or abusing it, if it failed on its own, then they would probably help you out with that. But you'll need to contact Hoag if that's the case. But anyways, yeah, the original Deca is a good knife

 It's a better value, but some people will pay for aesthetics. I'm gonna link both the bug out and the Deca down in the description so that you guys can take a look at everything that is available and then make your own judgment call. Which is the better design? Of these two, the bug out has a lot of really good design features. It isn't that much better than the Deca though, where I'm like, yeah you should definitely spend, you know, to get the same materials, $40 more

 How about carry profile thickness up against the Spyderco Para 3? You can see here it is a little bit thinner. How about the thickness up against the bug out? Now these are aftermarket scales but the scales are pretty darn close to you know the actual thickness, right? So the Deca appears to be a little bit thicker, right? But a knife this size, I don't know, you know, it's hair splitting when we..

They make the knives feel so much better in use, improved ergonomics and improved grip and more colour choices. All I'm waiting for is ATW scales for the Hogue Deka Magnacut and i'll be a happy camper.

 Guy turns out that the reason for that extra screw is that, as you saw the disassembly here and I'll see, if I can show you with the knives fully assembled on the inside there, there is a little bit of a liner there and that little bit of Liner interacts with well I'll, show you on this side this screw in this screw, so the liner goes from here all the way out to these, but it stops short of that. One on this guy, the liner actually keeps going I'll see you. I can again show this off on an assembled one here, maybe it's better from this side yeah. It is so

 Um, but the thing is, it was a big boy right. It'S a chunky beast over here, I'm big blade, big handle thick profile. This is a beefy knife. There is no mistaking there

The handle of the MK1-G2 is made of 3-D machined G-10. Gone is the old “cheap plastic” handle of the Griptilian. In it’s place is black G-10, fully machined. They really went all out, with a sunburst pattern around the pivot, blending into a patch of checkering, and then the sunburst picks back up again and radiates down the handle

 Everything is held together with torx bolts and 3 metal standoffs. All the machining is top notch and the fit and finish is excellent.

 The knife hasn’t fallen out of my pocket, but I would be extra careful with this piece.
