 Tested out a couple of coffee makers, and settled with this one due to convenience and taste of coffee. You’ll notice that I said I settled, and I did.  To begin with if you are chemically sensitive use with caution. As we know everything is mostly plastic these days, and this coffee maker is no exception to that rule

Odd Tweaks, but Still a Good Coffee Maker

I’ve had this machine for several months, now. There are some pros and cons.  Pros: Overall I really liked how easy this machine was to use. I’m a barista and I know using an electric coffee maker might make me look like a dweeb, but I’m up at 4am and need the convenience and caffeine ASAP! This 100% delivers in that regard

Super convenient, but weird flavor

 Nice and compact. Only thing I don’t care for is it is really slow at brewing the coffee. If you don’t mind a little wait this is a great coffee maker.

 The older model required me to lift the entire top up and pull the basket out but with this one, I just swing out the basket, grab the used coffee filter, toss it in the trash and easily replace it with a new one. I also very much like the top is solid and part of the overall build instead of being attached with a hinge. The lid on my older model was starting to warp slightly and it no longer seated properly, leaving a very small 1/16" - 1/8" gap on one side.  And finally, I just want to say that this coffee maker, and its predesessor, both offer up a damn fine cup of coffee

 In my cabinet, I have Great Value Columbian, Dunkin Donuts Original Blend and Gevalia Medium Roast and all of them are fantastic being served very hot with a bold, smooth, never bitter taste. When it comes time to replace this one, I will be looking for another Hamilton Beach because they know how to make coffee right.

 When brewed it’s the perfect temperature but I wish the carafe would hold its temperature better. I prefer to just do smaller amounts in the carafe and repeating to make sure I always get the right temp or a single cup. Also at the end of the cycle a little puddle of water in the tank remains and needs to be wiped out. Overall the Oxo brews a nice cup of coffee

      The machine is very sleek in design and fits nicely on my kitchen counter. The best part is that I can brew a single serve whenever I just want one cup of coffee.  I am proud to recommend this product to all my fellow coffee lovers who love a great tasting cup of coffee!

 Brew time on this coffee  maker is really quick and the temperature of the brewed coffee is excellent. This coffee maker is unique because unlike other coffee makers that will continue to heat your coffee once it is brewed, which contributes to strong tasting coffee, this machine shuts off once the brewing cycle has finished and your coffee stays hot inside the insulated carafe. I am proud to recommend this product to all my fellow coffee lovers who love a great tasting cup of coffee!

Perfectly Brewed Coffee!

 without moving the unit from under the cabinets.  The unit could have easily been made shorter and lids redesigned to alleviate these problems.  Coffee flavor The coffee flavor is fairly consistent. The machine brews quickly which is a plus

 So I was expecting coffee coming out of this machine to not really be at my preferred temp. But given the size of the carafe, especially when brewing partial pots, the coffee drops in temperature quite a bit just to get the inside of the carafe up to temp. I alleviate this by pouring some boiling water in the carafe while the coffee starts brewing then dumping it out to get the carafe up to temp. It adds a couple more steps

 In the future, I would probably buy a machine with a heated pad and glass pot.  Value Issue This machine looks nice and is well built. I hope it will last a long time. But for me the price doesn't justify the quality or ease of use issues

Not great value, unnecessarily bulky, coffee still gets cool too quickly

 This is atypical of all my previous Oxo products design experience. The carafe cannot be fully emptied and leaves coffee inside (due to the internal overhang of the black plastic top on the metal carafe). The carafe lid looks to be two separate pieces, top and bottom, which cannot be disassembled for cleaning inside the lid. Cleaning inside the carafe is very difficult (again due to the plastic overhang on the opening)

S. I burr grind my espresso beans fine and don't add but 4 heaping tablespoons of coffee for a pot. Comes out strong and smokey! Update: After having the coffee maker for a year now it does not make the first pot hot enough. Bunns (some models) are all plastic now and look awful so I'll look elsewhere for that perfect coffee maker

 The build quality is good, I think it's better than the Cuisinart actually. Much easier to put water in that's for sure. It has a large water tank that's clear so you can view how much your brewing from any angle just like the OXO. Brews really hot coffee but the flavor is better in the OXO
