 And it's pretty heavy as a package actually. The box I think weighs 16 or 17 kilos with everything in so already it feels pretty weighty and pretty sturdy which is always a good sign. So to my left here we've got as you can see the main apex wheel stand itself. We've then got the wheel deck where we you bolt your steering wheel to

 We've then got a bag of screws, a spanner, an Allen key, some nuts and bolts so looks like all the tools are included for the build as well. We've got another bag here with lots of nuts and bolts, a couple more Allen Keys, and another open-ended spanner. So again, you're not going to need your own tools. a bag with four feet in some Gt Omega stickers should you want to adorn your rig with those and then something

 Um, and this is I think it's about 150 pounds. Um, the Next level racing one is a little bit more. I haven't had one of those to compare, but I am getting their direct Drive wheel standing. But today we're looking at this

 I'm going to get it assembled and show you what comes in the box and then get the trusty logitech set up on there. Take it for a spin and dirt rally as always so you guys can see what sort of flex we get, Whether there's any wobble, how stable it is, and how comfortable and you know and easy it looks to use.  So now let's take a look at what we get in this wheel stand kit. First off, we'll look at the wheel base plate or mount and you can see it has a lot of holes in it for the usual suspects out there that we're gonna use for this type of wheel stand, the thrust master, the logitech line, and of course fanatic and this is actually a pretty good feeling as far as stiffness goes. So let's take a look at some of the dimensions of this. as far as the metal plate goes and the actual top plate, there is 265 around there - seven - six

 Let's put it that way, when I first started out in simracing like a lot of guys, we were using wheel bases because that's really all we had unless you were building something out of wood as far as your cockpit goes, right? So let's go ahead and look at this other plate and this is the shifter hand brake plate that comes with it and again, this is drilled up for the Logitech fanatic and throw semester and I'm actually going to be using a thrust master I Think on this so we'll see how that fits and we're going to bolt it directly to it. So instead of using the clamp on on the actual shifter now, this is actually a little bit thinner, but the construction more than makes up for that. I Think we've got a welded bead across here. or wherever in front of your your big TV when your xbox of your PlayStation you know this is where these things are really valuable because we can fold them up and we can stick them away with our stuff still mounted to it

 All right. So that's we'll call that three millimeter because typically in the industry that's what you'll get. You'll get it won't be perfectly the same thickness all the way across the plate, but I'm sure they're calling that three mil now. There's a bracket that's actually welded to the back of this which is going to give us an advantage as far as making the plate more rigid

GT Omega Apex Wheel Stand Review

This was quite easy to assemble and set up with the minimal instructions included. There is a great quantity of hardware provided, presumably for different wheels. The instructions identify all the hardware, but then fail to mention which fasteners are being used in each step. It was easy enough to figure out for my Logitech G29

Super solid, great build quality, not as adjustable as I would like

NO MIDDLE BAR and METAL FRAME I'm 6'3" and I couldn't comfortably use the Wheel Stand Pro (a fine product itself, just not for me). The lack of this bar requires that Omega uses a frame. Their metal frame gives it a larger footprint than the WSP and it is considerably heavier. But, the lack of that middle bar makes the Omega an easy product to recommend if you are having issues with the former's kind of construction

 This feels fantastic and quite natural for driving, but if you are using an office chair with high armbars that are not adjustable, you may have to let your arm hang free off the side while shifting--that could be wearying after a while.  SIMPLE INSTALLATION: Pretty easy task. The instructions are basic in the now typical IKEAesque picture formats. There was no mention of which screw to use to mount specific accessories but it wasn't hard to figure that out

 For example, if you are using this at your PC where you work/play other games--moving this in and out each evening might become a chore. Once it is set, you're probably going to want to use it for a while and vice-versa once stored. There's nothing wrong with moving it as needed, but it is going to be an investment of time and exertion to get it set up.  STURDY AND SECURE: Despite the ability to collapse for storage, this is a strong frame and remains sturdy when deployed for play

Goes without saying you need something that’s constructed rather hefty in order to counter the sometimes wild gyrations a wheel and peddles can throw at the base sometimes and yet you don’t want to feel like you’ve just broke the bank and can’t sleep at night. This stand comes though with flying colors in both categories.  3

 No attached “racing” seat as I already have a chair for that task in the den and besides, unless your one of these young kids who races and rolls in money like it’s being printed in the basement and feel the need to impress people then why pay for it? Besides, most of them look like nothing more than reclining lawn chairs printed with logos on them.  2. Quality and price. If You Want Quality...

Almost perfect... for the money.

 It also feels much more solid and sturdy. The frames here on the apex appear to be very similar in size and shape to the frames on my GT Omega A-artie Cockpit, so it gets a check mark for the durability and strength. Box mounting your equipment to the wheel Stan is relatively simple. However, I do recommend mounting your wheel to the wheel plate before mounting the plate to the wheel

 This was because the wheel stands were too light and too compact and all of your body weight was in your chair and there was not enough body weight or weight at all in the wheel stand. So over the course of the race, the wheel stands would slide further and further away. So what I needed was a wheel stand that was portable and light, yet still heavy and rigid enough to provide a solid and stationary mount for my racing wheel. So as GTA Omega finally cracked the code with the Apex Wheel Stand, let's find out

 I used center post wheel stands, full frame wheel stands, and I use a variety of different brands and while they all worked okay, I still found them all to be plagued with two common problems. The first problem was because of their portable and lightweight designs. They all lack the rigidity and strength that they really needed. so even the weakest entry-level force-feedback wheels would cause movement in the wheel stands frame

 and that's why I did so to some of my review. If you were looking for a very solid, very sturdy and highly adjustable wheel stand and you're willing to sacrifice a little bit of portability for those Pros: the GT Omega Apex is going to be the right choice for you. It typically retails right around two hundred US dollars and for that price I Think it's a great deal and probably one of the wheel stands available on the market today.  It’s definitely worth it, nice and heavy metal stand and the mounts are nice thick pieces of metal which is amazing. If you’re iffy on buying it trust me when I say, I was too and I’m glad I did end up pulling the trigger. Can’t say it enough, I’m super happy with this stand it’s beyond worth the asking price!

 They wheel stand as a whole comes almost completely assembled, and all you really need to do is install the feet wheel plate and shift them out, and all of those parts are easily fitted with a few nuts and screws. This is one of the simplest construction jobs I've undertaken in a while. It's a fair play to Gta maybe on the design. All of the mounting plates come pre-drilled with plenty of options to mount your racing wheel, and it is fully compatible with all brands of racing wheel

 In a nutshell: if you don't have time to watch this whole video, the Gt Omega Apex Wheel Stand is supremely sturdy stand, which allows for relatively easy storing away once you're done racing. It performs well under testing with very little shaking or wobbling, and is able to handle almost any racing wheel. so I would recommend picking this up all day long if you're looking for a versatile wheel stand.  You know it's all well well packaged inside that box. There isn't a lot there to to actually see, but that's because there's not a lot that you really need. So you do get a lot of interesting documentation there which gives you all the self information that you need to fix your your steering wheel and your pedals for whatever wheel that you have to the the wheel stand Pro and it tells you about how to do that and a lot of different information regarding where you can go to get extra help as well. They do have their own YouTube channel that helps with a lot of videos for that and you also get this box which basically contains a lot of different fixings and aspects

 The Original I've never had any issues with whatsoever, but as you can see, it is very slightly different in terms of how it's made. but in terms of the actual design of the wheel stand the obviously they've obviously had a good idea from the start so they've just kept with it. You know, the the design itself is very similar. you know it's very, very quick and often quicker than that as well

 Now into the meat and potatoes of the review. So how does this wheel stand perform generally pretty well. If everything is tighten up, the standard rubber inserts will keep it in a place and its stand is strong enough to handle a load cell pedal and mid level wheels like the Tea Tree under. RS If you add the RGS module which is the module for the Tha 2a, the stand will become extra stable as it will have an extra anchor points to the ground

 It's one of the selling points is these of storage, but to be honest, unless you're running a box under wheel like a driving force GT or something like that with the pedal set without a clutch, the stand will always be in the ready to go opposite position. If you try to use this in the storing position, the brake pedal will be in the way of the central column. Therefore, you'll be leaving this most of the time in the ready to go state and depending if you are using any model upgrades for playa For the shifters like I'm using for the Th 8a, it would sit nicely at the corner of the room or at the side of the desk. It's not bulky, but its size should still be taken in consideration
