My job has shifted recently and I now find myself in front of a lot of cameras and VIPs on a regular basis (I run a nonprofit and spend much of my time now advocating for funding from ... people who have expendable funds). I have always been pretty low-maintenance and have never really had my hair or nails professionally done and I am working on figuring out how to even choose a hairstylist. I want to feel better about how I look in these situations. In particular, I HATE photos of myself and think I don't photograph well, but it's just something I am going to have to get used to at this point. 

A friend recently mentioned "automating" certain things as a way to deal with this, since my job is also demanding and I don't have a ton of free time. Her examples were things like "laminating" her lashes and putting her hair appointments on auto-schedule. I have already figured out what colors and silhouettes look best on me, so that helps with the getting dressed in the morning part, but I wondered what other tips everyone might have for making sure you always look your best even when you don't have a lot of time every day to put in the effort.

EDIT: Thank you all so much for the tips so far! Just to clarify a bit, when I say &quot;in front of cameras&quot; I actually don&#39;t mean Zoom calls. The world I am now running in is fully back to in-person stuff: cocktail parties, evening events, meet-and-greets, etc. I need tips for how to look good in person and also anything that can help me feel more confident when some random newspaper photog wants a picture of so and so and I just happen to be standing next to them, or that person wants a selfie for their IG. 

Also, the clothing tips are awesome but I literally have no idea when it comes to hair, makeup, nails, etc. Like... every time I have gotten a gel manicure (like, all two times) it chips immediately, so why do people pay twice as much for this? Also, how the hell do you make makeup last more than 5 seconds? Tips for that kind of thing would be fantastic.

Of course before we get started I do want to show you how we were looking midday at around four o'clock in daylight So you can see how these lashes looked and honestly they were looking really really good still very dark Very very pigmented and I love is how separated they still are and here we are now 11 hours later all day long Look at these lashes. Let me look up so you can see You know what i'm noticing right now is like how dark they've maintained and how we have the lift how similar they look How we started off with with how we started off with you know what I mean? Look, let me just show you what the lights turned off so you get a clearer picture The only thing is I feel like it's smudging a little bit here at the bottom very little like not even I don't think you could tell I could tell in person like that

 I don't curl my lashes when I test out Mascaras, especially if they claim to have volume and all that stuff.  Also this is one and a lot best of beauty for mascara this year so I thought I'd go ahead and test it out because I have had this in my collection for quite a long time but I've never really reached for it and I've never tested out any Tarte mascaras before but I do like their foundations. I do have the Amazonian clay one, I absolutely love it and then also I am wearing one of their eyeshadow palettes at the moment that I've had for a very long time so I thought I'd go ahead and test this out and I do have very high hopes for it because like I said it has won an award this year so if you're new to my channel and you enjoyed this video make sure you hit the subscribe button down below and also make sure you hit the bell icon just so you're notified every time I upload a new video. This mascara is pretty expensive, it retails for £21 or $23 so it is quite up there in price and I have tested out some drugstore mascaras that I love, I've also tested out some high-end mascaras that I love as well so we'll see if this is actually as good as it says. So it does say on the website that it creates massive volume, infinite length and extreme curl, it makes your eyes appear bigger and lifted with one coat, it is creamy, it's waterproof formula and it conditions lashes, it won't flake, clump or smudge which is a very big thing that they do claim on here because I've tried out mascaras before that say that they don't budge and they just go everywhere but yeah we'll see how this one goes for that

 So you go root to tip which is exactly what I did and do a zigzag and then with a second coat, if you are doing a second coat, do the zigzag motion at first and then also roll the brush at the end just to try and separate them a little bit more. Then if you do go for three coats then do the rolling motion to separate them but I will not need to do three coats of this mascara because like I said my eyelashes look so good even after the first coat. I feel like if I do want an even thicker lash I'll probably just go for two coats but yeah you don't need three coats of this mascara it just works so well and I'm really impressed with it and I feel like that my eyes look so much bigger than when I first started and so far I really like it. I'm very happy, I'm very impressed with it as well and I do feel like it's worth the money however I am going to test this out throughout the rest of the day and see how it goes
