 Looking at the physical specs of this keyboard, it's an upgrade on pretty much all aspects compared to previous GK keyboards. The case is thicker and the material feels higher quality. It has almost no flex, likely due to that thicker case and internal structure. It has 4 rubber feet under, with no angle adjustment whatsoever, and then there's a USB-C port at the back

 There is a total of 4 layers, accessible through function plus Q, W, E and R. Q is the driver layer where the changes are stored on the computer while the others are stored on board. You can remap to pretty much any key from alpha numerical keys to multimedia controls, mouse clicks, OS functions and temporary layer switch. All in all, you can pretty much do anything with this software apart from remapping that function key

 So in conclusion, this is a great improvement over the previous GK64, the overall quality is better and you get that optional split spacebar layout and it should be 100% compatible with GH60-like cases. Overall, I think this is a great keyboard, the only thing that would prevent me from recommending it is the layout which will make things harder both in terms of adjusting to it, especially that narrow right shift, but also to find keycaps that fit. The other thing that I don't like about it is that the right ALT key doesn't have its standard location and is swapped with the function key instead. Other than that, it's solid, these Domiki keycaps are really nice too and although, I wouldn't recommend the Cherry Black switches personally

GK64XS Wireless Mechanical Keyboard Review - YouTube

 Is this the best bang for your buck if you're transitioning from a full-size keyboard? Honestly, I think so, but I'll show you why in the following. The keyboard comes in a brown box, and mine is kind of torn apart because this fluffy boy thought it was the best bet ever. Oh well. But normally you would get the keyboard itself, as well as a braided USB Type-C cable, a keycap puller and a switch puller, and I would however recommend getting a wire keycap puller as plastic ones, like the one they included don't attach easily to your keycaps and are a bit too bulky in most areas

 As mentioned earlier, this unit has dedicated arrow keys in the same form factor than a regular 60% keyboard, without losing too many of the other keys. They achieve that by making some of the keys narrower, like both of the shift keys, then the right part of the bottom row as 1-unit keys instead of the standard 1.25, so they can fit an extra key there, and the right shift key is also a 1-unit key to leave room for the arrow up key and a delete key. The rest of the layout does match the ANSI standard layout though

 Another important factor would be that the Anpro supports Bluetooth connectivity, while this board doesn't, and that would be the last important difference I think. So to wrap this up, this keyboard gets a big yes from me. The overall quality and features set are simply amazing for the asking 65 dollar price, making this a killer value as long as you want this specific layout. Now for me, I think I'll stick to the Anpro just because I'm used to the normal 60% layout, and I have more boards with that layout than the 64 key GK64, so it's simply more practical for me

The rest of the layout does match the ANSI standard layout though. The setup is a bit unconventional, but I've seen other 64-key keyboards having the same layout and there are a few third-party keycap options available, one of which I have right here with me, and I'll install it later in this video to give you an idea. Another easy option would be to go with a full-size keycap set that has the same profile across the rows, like DSA or XDA, and you would be able to reuse some of the additional keys from the numpad to fill the unconventional spots

The No-Compromise 60% Mechanical Keyboard? - YouTube

  Summary: for the price, this keyboard checks all of the boxes that I was looking for. I wanted to try unique switches and have a good keyboard for my media center. It's a unique specimen with bluetooth, a 65% layout, RGB, hot swappable switches, and full programmability. I highly recommend this keyboard to anyone who wants a small wireless keyboard

 The keyboard has a good weight to it. The feet aren't adjustable, but they keep the keyboard in place.  Software: it's trying its best.

 Information about the keyboard: The included key stabilizers are a little soft and feel like switch dampeners are installed. It's not a big deal if you plan on installing dampeners, but if you like a clack to your space bar, backspace, shift, and enter key, you might want to swap them out. The rest of the KB feels solidly built. The plastic housing is nicely textured and feels rigid

 There's no flex when you push on it from any of the sides. The LEDs are dimmer than I've seen on some keyboards, but hopefully this translates to better battery life. Layout is a bit unique, so if you use a standard set of keycaps, you'll have to get creative. I don't mind the random keys I had to throw in, but if you want a set that matches, YMDK has a few different sets for this layout

.. not great. It's the standard GK6X software though, so if you've ever used one of these boards before you'll know what's in store

 The case (if you buy the plastic one) could be a bit better. It's made out of ABS so I assume that with continued use you'll see some shine around the edges, but that shouldn't discourage anyone from using it, ultimately you can swap the case to something else if you want to. Along with it being shiny plastic, it's also somewhat hollow sounding. When typing, there's a distinct metal ping from the switch bottoming out and the keycap hitting the steel plate that echos through the case

 It's subtle, but audible. Some sorbothane or other sound dampening foam should clear this right up.  The layout of this kit is somewhat special. It's a 65% in a 60% body, or what's known as a 60% with arrows

 The main issue with it is that it's not the most intuitive, so while once you figure it out you're fine, it'll take a second to get to that point. Once you're there though, you can remap any button you want, change up the FN layer, program macro's, and set the RGB. This is compiler software, too, so once you're done setting it up. you can flash everything to the board and uninstall the software if you don't want it on your PC

 On top of that we have our plate, now the plate is just there to cover the PCB, protect it and secure all your switches as well and then on top of that we have the switches, this keyboard is running the brown switches, mentioned in my previous keyboard video I talked about how I didn't like the feel of those switches which were Roma G's, these are the brown switches, a little bit more of a tactile feel to it, etc, you're able to get various amounts or various switches out there all with a different kind of feel, so I suggest going out there trying different keyboards, trying different switches, finding one that feels right for you. Also next we were able to get the keycaps, now the keycap set I'm using on this keyboard is the Tifu Ducky keycap set, nothing specifically for because of my liking to Tifu or Fortnite, specifically I like the colorway and the set itself had the required keys that I wanted for my keyboard and it was at a very affordable price. These keycaps were actually significantly cheap compared to some of the other keycap manufacturers out there, if you've heard of GMK keycaps you know that they can range all the way up to from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars, personal opinion though is the, and hearing from other reviews and what not, is that these, specifically the Ducky keycaps, the double shot PBTs, you can't, there doesn't seem to be that much of a major difference in those keycaps, keep that in mind when you're shopping knowing that you don't have to splurge out to get a very good key set. Then in terms of making the keyboard, it was quite simple, it was at first daunting when I was watching how do I do this, how do that, you can get two types of PCBs, a hot swap PCB or a regular PCB where the switches, when you put the switches into the keyboard on a hot swap like this keyboard, you're able to pull them out again at a later date if you want to modify or what not without requiring any soldering, the regular PCBs you have to solder them to the board so that's much more of a task to get them out

 So the key components is the case, so you can get cases in various materials, here for my build we just went with the plastic version, this is the GK64 model as well as I mentioned before, so the plastic doesn't feel cheap, it feels pretty solid, you're able to get aluminum cases, you're able to get other metallic cases, you're able to get wooden cases and you're able to swap them out and screw them in. Inside the case we then have the PCB, now the PCB is like the circuit board, it's the brain, it will convert the signals from your key presses into actions on your computer. 25U, which makes it a bit more difficult to find keycap sets, but I have found a few out there like those HC Granite keycaps sent to me from PimpMyKeyboard.com. Anyways, like I said, I'll have links in the description for this board, as well as the software and user manual I'll use to easily set it up the way I wanted.  And these just work with metal to metal contact. In the socket, there are metal contacts which are pressing inwards, and the keyswitch pins just lip between those to create that connection. This also allows the keyswitches not to be super tight, and are very easy to take out. This is another new product from Kailh, and I've honestly been quite impressed with what they've been doing in the mechanical keyboard market recently, with their new keyswitches and all

 And it's also heftier. But then you also get these keycaps which are also nicer to me. And then we have this alternative 64 key layout. And of course the hot swappable sockets for the keyswitches are just a great inclusion

 We also have the USB C cable which is actually pretty nice. It has a nice grey braid, and a metal housing for the connector, and gold plated ends. We have our keyswitch puller. And finally we have this pretty nice keycap puller with a keyswitch on top

 So that's a really nice weight for a 60% sized board. The aluminium enclosure is CNC milled, but it's a bit more complex than the cheaper simple 60% aluminium cases. It is a lowish profile case, so we can see that the keyswitches are exposed from the sides, but the plate is a tad lower than the lip of the base. The bezels are very minimal from the top down view, and it's a simple rounded rectangular design, keeping it very compact

A very interesting and appealing keyboard packed with a whole lot of features. It's just unfortunate that mine didn't work properly.

As usual, all keyboards are already opened and tested for a period of time, and then repacked for the unboxing.
