I use Geek & Gorgeous A-Game which contains 0.05% Retinaldehyde, which is more potent than Retinol (one step closer to Retinoic acid than Retinol) but this particular product is super gentle (not irritating at all) for being a mid/high strength (equivalent to 0.5% Retinol iirc). It's also quite affordable! Very pleased so far and on my 2nd bottle!

There is not a ton of discussion here about OTC retinol products. I think it's probably because people that really care about them end up eventually moving to tret or adapalene. But I'd love to hear some experiences or reviews of different products if people have them. One thing that's frustrating is that a lot of brands don't disclose the percentage of retinol that they use, which makes it tricky to compare them. And yes, of course they work more slowly and have less research behind them than tret or adapalene. But they can also be good options for people with sensitive or dry skin, either to work up to using tret or instead of it entirely. 

I'm also looking for a product to try myself (mainly for anti aging, but if it stops my occasional acne I won't complain)! Here are some of the more affordable ones that I'm aware of:

* **CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum** and **Cerave Skin Resurfacing Retinol Serum**
   * $17 for 1 fl oz
   * These are ones I'm interesting in! But not clear on the difference between them. Does anyone know the concentrations? I couldn't find them on their website. 
   * Slightly turned off by the Isopropyl Myristate in the Skin Resurfacing INCI? Pretty irritating and comedogenic, although it's low on the ingredient list. 
* **The Ordinary Retinol in Squalane 0.2-1%**
   * &lt;$10 for 30 ml
   * This seems to be a good and popular option! I'm scared to try it because my skin seems to react badly to TO's regular squalane (with irritation, for some reason), but I think it should work for most people.
* **The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2-5%**
   * &lt;$10 for 30 ml
   * Under the impression that there's not much of a point in using granactive retinoid rather than retinol, but would be happy to hear if I'm wrong, or personal experiences. 
* **Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Retinol Cream**
   * $29 for 1.7 fl oz
   * I think maybe a lot of people are familiar with this product because of Dr. Dray? At least that's how I first heard of it. 
   * I would be interested in it, but with fatty alcohol and Ceteareth-20 I really think this will clog my pores. 
* **Stratia Night Shift**
   * $28 for 1.7 fl oz
   * This is one of the ones I'm most interested in! I love Stratia and I appreciate that they disclose the 0.15% concentration. I know this is quite low, but I've never used retinol and have dry skin so starting low is okay with me, especially if the rest of the formula agrees with my skin. Would love to hear anyones experiences with this!

   * $9.99 for 30ml
   * I read that this has a ridiculously low concentration that makes it not worth using, like 0.05% or something.

Another rec here for Geek & Gorgeous retinal A-game 5. It's my first retinol product and have no issues using it every other day.

So I’m 22, I’m in the UK, and I’ve started noticing my first signs of ageing (on my forehead I have fine lines). I also have always been prone to developing milia under and around my eyes and nose. I’ve been told retinol can help with both of these problems but I have no idea where to start! 

I want to start with a small percentage to see if my skin will tolerate, I don’t think I need anything too extreme at this point. 

Any recommendations for gentle, fragrance free retinol products that are good for sensitive skin? 

Also, I have no idea at what point to use it in my routine, is it an AM and PM thing? Just AM? Just PM? Do I use it before or after moisturiser and oils and do I use it every day / night?
