Hi, I've been recently planning and researching to build my first custom keyboard.

I've decided on getting the GMMK Pro as case, and I've learned that the stock stabs aren't really that good. After reading/watching numerous videos and posts on reddit, I've come to a conclusion that the C3 Equalz stabs will be the right choice for me... (runner-up was Durock V2) but I have a few questions:

* Is "Equalz" the brand/company name? Do they have an official website of sorts where they have listings of latest iterations? All I can find online are seemingly individual sellers.
* Is the "C3 Equalz X TKC" stabs supposed to be the same thing? Or is it a one-time collab between two companies thus products are limited in quantity?
* Are the 'normal' Equalz stabs being made as of now? If so, what's the latest revision? V2? V3?
* If so, are there any places I could possibly get one in 'plain' colors (white/black)? All I see in stock seem to be in... vibrant colors. I'd personally prefer if they didn't stand out too much when placed alongside the switches.

Quick question for folks more in touch with what's current.. I'm looking to put together (or buy) a 75% bluetooth layout keyboard - I am VERY close to pulling the trigger on a Keychron K2 since it ticks almost every box, however before I do it - I wanted to reach out and see if there's anything else out there I might be able to put together (I've been soldering for years, so that doesn't scare me, and I've built 3 boards from PCB up now).. Also, I've got an embarrassing amount of keycaps already, so I don't need those lol.

wants:

\-  75% US ISO layout 

\- Bluetooth (4+)

\- Programmable firmware (QMK compatible would be a+), or programmable enough that I can move the super, function, alt/meta and page up/down keys around.  Oh, and if I can put control where the universe intended it to be, that'd be a plus too (if you haven't been converted yet, imagine that disgusting, unused caps-lock key on your keyboard as your left-control, and welcome to the club.)

\- either a great switch selection, hot swap, or bring my own switches  (I've been using zilent 62's - and while I tend to bottom out with them, it's just the way my fingers learned to type, so I'm comfy with it -  if anyone knows anything better I should check out, lmk!)

\- Aluminum / heavy case + plate (foam preferred, but I can add this myself later)

\- decent stabs if it's a prebuilt (and I'm on the hunt for better ones in my other boards as well, so thoughts here are also appreciated)

I'm planning on buying the Ducky One 2 SF but I'm not a fan of the decal on the spacebar or the red enter so I'm wondering where I can find white, backlit keycaps to replace the 2. They're 6.25u and 2u respectively. Alternatively, if it's too hard to find keycaps that fit I was considering buying a full set of pudding keycaps but my concern is the non-standard modifier keys in the bottom right. The RALT and Fn keys are 1u and the RSHIFT is 2u.

So I am modding a Keychron K2 non hot-swap and I realized that I might want to go hunt around and find the perfect switch or switch my switches out in the future. So I was wondering if I could put hot-swap sockets on the board instead of soldering the new switches in. Is that reasonable for someone who wants to try lots of switches without buying a desoldering gun? If so, how and what sockets can I use?

Quick question on PE Foam mod: Traditionally the foam is put between the pcb and plate, but in Dave2D's most recent video about the Keychron Q1, he puts the foam underneath the PCB to a similar effect. Has anyone else tried this method of the PE foam mod? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts thank you. 

Also, if anyone has links to buy PE Foam online that would be appreciated as well.

I decided to go with the linear switches (Gateron Red) because I don't really have that accidentally-press problem, as I'm quite light-handed, and I don't really want to overcome that tactile feedback every time I press a key, especially given that I *do* game quite often. The quietest part also appeals to me. The good thing about mechanical keyboards is that if you get one with the hot-swap option, you can easily just replace switches if you don't like them.

I am not a keyboard enthusiast *per se*, I'm just after some advice about purchasing one please.

TL;DR: Need a keyboard which is good for efficient longform writing.

More detail: My wife and I both have jobs that consist of a lot of typing. Like, a *lot*. We used following keyboards because we had them lying around:

For us, these keyboards don’t lend themselves to longform writing. They are loud, which is distracting (not sure if this really needs to be mentioned, but we really need to think and concentrate whilst typing). They are tiring to our fingers, which is kind of a weird thing to say, but is a real thing.

I also had a one of these lying around: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Wired-Keyboard-600-Layout/dp/B001QSZ8IE. So I swapped my keyboard out. The difference is night and day. No noise, simple to type with.

But this just some cheap keyboard I’ve had lying around for ten years. I don’t imagine that this is the best keyboard for the job.

I want to replace our keyboards with the optimal keyboard for typing within my price range. Well, that said, I don’t really have a budget in mind, preferably under £50, but the cheaper the better. We are in the UK, so something that’s available here would be ideal.

I don’t really care whether it’s a mechanical/membrane/whatever type of keyboard. The point is not about any particular type of keyboard, it’s more about the typing efficiency. We need full-size keyboards with number pads, etc.

It will only be used for work. No gaming or any other use.

All suggestions appreciated.

<p>For us, these keyboards don’t lend themselves to longform writing. They are loud, which is distracting (not sure if this really needs to be mentioned, but we really need to think and concentrate whilst typing). They are tiring to our fingers, which is kind of a weird thing to say, but is a real thing.</p>

<p>I also had a one of these lying around: <a href="https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Wired-Keyboard-600-Layout/dp/B001QSZ8IE">https://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Wired-Keyboard-600-Layout/dp/B001QSZ8IE</a>. So I swapped my keyboard out. The difference is night and day. No noise, simple to type with.</p>

<p>But this just some cheap keyboard I’ve had lying around for ten years. I don’t imagine that this is the best keyboard for the job.</p>

<p>I want to replace our keyboards with the optimal keyboard for typing within my price range. Well, that said, I don’t really have a budget in mind, preferably under £50, but the cheaper the better. We are in the UK, so something that’s available here would be ideal.</p>

<p>I don’t really care whether it’s a mechanical/membrane/whatever type of keyboard. The point is not about any particular type of keyboard, it’s more about the typing efficiency. We need full-size keyboards with number pads, etc.</p>

<p>It will only be used for work. No gaming or any other use.</p>

<p>All suggestions appreciated.</p>

Good keyboard for typing?

Setup: Gateron Red Switches with YMDK Double Shot Pudding Keycaps, Matrix Rubberized Orange and Neon Green Keycaps, and custom Hunter X Hunter Keycaps. Had it band-aid clipped and lubed!

Our Tealio switches have been tweaked with wobble reduction and improved smoothness compared to regular Gateron linears. 67g - Transparent, Tiffany Blue Stem, PCB Mount [Linear] Please note that PCB mounted switches can still be used in many plate mounted keyboards. As long as your PCB underneath has 2 extra holes next to the center post, it will support PCB Mounted switches and add extra rigidity to your build. If your PCB does not have the extra holes, then you can simply cut the small plastic legs off to make them Plate-Mount compatible.

I've tried various linear switches after swapping from heavy clickies like Cherry and Gateron Greens. Personally, my favorite up till now have been Gateron Yellows which are very good value linear switches that are probably some of the smoothest linear switches you can get on a budget. Having said that, the Tealios V2 absolutely blow my Gat Yellows out of the water. Wobble is noticeably reduced on these switches compared to previous Gateron switches I've used

These things are amazing! They feel really smooth and super easy to install. Shipping was also surprisingly quick!
