these switches are probably the best ones if you are on a budget. tbh they are really good stock but I wanted to go the extra mile and lube them myself and they sound even better even though they were kind already factory lubed. I 100% would recommend these.

I used this for my first keboard build

My usual budget recommendation is a plastic 60% case, DZ60 and a plate of your choice from KBDfans. Cherry screw-in stabilizers, Gateron Milky top Yellow switches and a cheap set of PBT keycaps from Aliexpress.

Recently, I have been doing research on building a keyboard for myself, but honestly I just don't know how to start, so I'm asking yall!

 All I really am looking for is a hotswappable keyboard with decent linear switches. Im hoping to spend no more than $120. Is that an ok budget for a (at least partly) custom keyboard?

Want to Build a Keyboard Without Breaking the Bank

Switches are sold in bundles of 10. One order = 10x switches. Ten orders = 100x switches Voted Best modern keyboard or company - Deskthority Awards 2016 The spring weight is rated at "bottom out" force, not actuation! Our Tealio switches have been tweaked with wobble reduction and improved smoothness compared to regular Gateron linears. 67g - Transparent, Tiffany Blue Stem, PCB Mount [Linear] Please note that PCB mounted switches can still be used in many plate mounted keyboards. As long as your PCB underneath has 2 extra holes next to the center post, it will support PCB Mounted switches and add extra rigidity to your build. If your PCB does not have the extra holes, then you can simply cut the small plastic legs off to make them Plate-Mount compatible.

I've tried various linear switches after swapping from heavy clickies like Cherry and Gateron Greens. Personally, my favorite up till now have been Gateron Yellows which are very good value linear switches that are probably some of the smoothest linear switches you can get on a budget. Having said that, the Tealios V2 absolutely blow my Gat Yellows out of the water. Wobble is noticeably reduced on these switches compared to previous Gateron switches I've used
