Garmin Dash Cam Tandem vs Viofo A129 Plus Duo

I like the garmin tandem for its 1440p and 30fps with super capacitor however I don’t need or want dual facing since I don’t need in cab video. Over $300 camera, without a rear camera (even though you are able to add cameras through the app), not even a tool to push your wires through the panels like any other cheaper cameras out there, only 720P resolution for the inside, which my $200 cheaper VAVA 2K has 1080P, lousy Wi-Fi, keeps going in and out, asking you to join every minute – RIDICULOUS, not even a booklet for BASIC INSTRUCTION how to operate the camera – UNBELIEVABLE, that every other electronic device/dashcam out there gives you even if you need to update it later on (that's what they claim as an excuse, so what?!). But file size can become to large, and this app can't deal with large files. There is an option to "trim" the video files to a shorter length. So far I find 5 minutes is the max. I could however, download those bigger files by connecting directly to the computer

Negative was this placement calls for a much smaller cable which through me for an another challenge. Turns out, a mini usb to mini usb that is 5in and is MEANT FOR THIS JOB is impossible to find. BEWARE, you may find a mini usb to mini usb cable that is small, but most likely won’t work because it isn’t configured to connect a camera to another camera. Viofo makes a “shorter” cable but is still way too long for my job

If it cannot, the live view won't work for you (since bluetooth can't stream that much data) and you might not be able to update as well. Not sure if it works on iPhone but I previously had a iPhone 6S which always had wifi direct working. If you run a hotspot on your phone wifi direct will also be disabled, I use it on a wifi tablet which gets the hotspot signal from my main phone so that WILL work. Wifi has to be on for wifi direct to work

Then go to the time zone settings and appropriately select the time zone. In my case, the camera defaulted 6 hours faster than my actual time. I then went to time zone settings and selected GMT-6 and the problem was solved. Syncing with the cell phone is only temporary unless the time zone is correct

The camera has only shut off twice and i only use it for 3-5 hours at a time and only 3-4 days a week. I expected better from the build quality, it's honestly kinda pricey and lacks many features VS the competition. It's a decent dash cam that does a good job, but I will be returning it if it shuts down one more time.

I can vouch that Viofo A129 Plus Duo works great in high heat. Mine bakes in the sun all day outdoor parking in the central valley when I'm there for work and it has zero recording issues. Duo, Plus Duo, and Pro Duo are respectively 1080p, 2k, and 4k resolution for the front camera; rear is always 1080p.
