 There'S a nice fleece lining to provide some protection against scratching and then a really nice thing about this POC is that it's actually elevated off the bottom of the ground. So it offers that extra bit of protection and actually reminds me a lot of the laptop pocket that we saw in the herschel pop quiz. So that's been one of my favorites so far, and so this is meant to hold up to a 15 inch laptop. Currently, what I have as my 13 inch macbook pro but, as you can see, there's plenty of left over space for a taller device

 So all the way up, the left - you have one slot to put something like a pen or a stylus, which is what I currently have here. Next, to that, there's two slightly larger slip: pockets that are pretty slim, so they're not gon na, be able to hold anything too bulky currently in this first one. What I have is just my Apple Magic Mouse and then next to that I just have a USB C dongle for my touch bar MacBook Pro, and then you do have some additional space here towards the bottom, where you could toss in something like a book or A small jacket - I really haven't put anything here because there's so much space in the rest of the bag, but still nice to have that extra bit of flexibility on the flap. You have two additional meshes if ur compartments with a nice amount of volume, starting with the bottom one

 What I like to carry for my day today, but after trying the two versions out for my size, I did feel that the 20 liter looked a little bit small, even though it was able to hold a nice amount of stuff. I just preferred how they larger 28 litre size fit with my body type. In my height continuing along the outside. I was very happy to see that the bag has two extra and a water bottle compartments and they have a pretty decent amount of space

 As well as you fill out all the pockets completely, the bag does start to get a little bit bulky and it sticks out while you're wearing it. But it's still nice to have the flexibility to be able to use this for a weekend or a week of travel. The last area we're going to be taking a look at is the laptop compartment, so really nice amount of space offered here. This compartment has a simple sleeve that you can use to hold something like your tablet

Very durable with lots of convenient pouches and pockets for storage. My main complaint is it isn't quite wide enough to accommodate larger format laptops. I have a full size laptop with extended battery, and I can fit it in the bag, but not in the section of the bag designed for it. 2 inches wider and it would be perfect

Hello Everyone I Want to make a follow-up video from three years ago where I did a review on this backpack the field revin 28 litres and I just want to show you how its held up after three years. As you can see, the zippers are all fine. there's no damage to it at all. The quality is impeccable

 I've been running with it and the washing, you know, take away the salty stains. the straps are almost as brand-new What's good about this bag is when you fill it up a lot, it's just the right size and it's very comfortable so you don't need a chest strap you can do without it which is very good when you're mixing kind of urban environment with hiking environments and so on. And these side pockets are really good and if you get some crumbs or something in there, you can just take the vacuum cleaner and suck it up. All right

 and I'll show you why. Let's look at the compartment. A 17 inch laptop fits without the problem, but that's also the maximum. so if you have anything below 17 inch you'll make it

 Our big issue with this, as you can see up here they're attached really close together and we've tried this on ourselves and a couple other people on the team and it kind of pinches the top of your shoulders around your neck area. You can kind of feel you can feel those straps digging in. Some of course that your mileage may vary based on your body type and what's comfortable to you. It's something that we've noticed on this bag, especially when we have it like cinched up nice and tight

 you know it's been a little tight. It always works. Um, just something to note there. And the same with our laptop

 I mean since everything has its own dimension, you can kind of see when you pull it out, it's quite wide and it's not a huge issue, it just it feels a little bulky on the back. but it doesn't mean that we can fit plenty and again, if we had a little bit beefier harness system it'd probably be less of an issue. Moving on, we've got the laptop compartment here. Um, as you can see, there's there's a lap dedicated laptop sleeve and then another just like loose liner sleeve on the front of this compartment

 You know there is plenty of room in the laptop sleeve. A lot of really nice dense padding on this sleeve and there is a false bottom so it ends about here. Um, on the bag. Not a huge false bottom, but it is there

With a measured weight of 21.3 ounces, it's a great deal lighter than most in our fleet. Made from Dyneema Composite Fabric &#40;DFC&#41;, it's incredibly durable, though the fabric is a bit stiff and crunchy. Beware of sharp metal edges &#40;bear canisters or climbing gear&#41;, since they can easily be worn through the fabric. A relatively recent update includes changes to the straps, pockets, and waist belt. The pack has also seen a carrying capacity increase from 52 to 55 liters. 
The Arc Blast is a slimmed-down ultralight machine with no bells or whistles. The frame is super light and a bit complicated; we do not recommend removing it unless you want to spend a great deal of time reassembling the pack. A bear canister only fits into this slender pack vertically, making it a little less-than-efficient to pack. We recommend this pack to any experienced ultralighter looking to strip a few ounces off their Big Four base weight.

 I like that this pack can handle excess weight such as when you have excess food or water in the pack. If I got another pack I would definitely choose one that offers a similar feature.

**Overview**: This is long term review of the Zpacks Arc Blast. I got this pack as a Christmas gift in 2018. I've used it for hundreds of miles and at least a dozen trips. I was not involved in the customer service or ordering of the pack other than I asked for it for Christmas and was under the tree in time for Christmas

The pack has proven itself to be durable under bad bushwhacking conditions. I have scraped it pretty badly on trees and brush and only the outer polyester layer of fabric has [punctured or torn]([URL REMOVED] The inner layer of DCF is unscathed. Under general scratchy scraping through brush there is no damage whatsoever.

- ZPacks Arc Blast - Sort of unbeatable for the frame comfort at the weight. Genuinely waterproof. Pricey. I don't own one, but I've tried it on for half a day to feel it out

 In case you want to hear what "waterproof" really means; I'll tell you, it's this, not something that requires a rainfly - I've taken this pack through its paces on really demanding long trips, including one that required ~50 river crossings in about 3 days and I've left it outside my bivy overnight in drenching rainstorms. Never had wet gear. I think it holds weight well and undersells the interior space because you can extend the roll-top.

 Pricey. I don't own one, but I've tried it on for half a day to feel it out. Reminds me a bit of the airflow on my Exos frame. The DCF is thin, but if you're not putting serious thru-hiking miles on it, you probably won't have durability issues

I'm looking to replace my Teton 3400 pack with something more lightweight and/or comfortable. Right now I'm between the Mariposa 60 Backpack, 40-60L Sierra Designs Flux Capacitor, or Osprey Atmos 50 or 60 but I'm open for other considerations. Max capacity around 60L and max weight of 5 pounds (ideally around 3 pound mark). I'm looking for something with decent exterior pockets including hip pockets and easy access pockets/mounts for bear spray. I've been trying to minimize gear weight to make the weight of my camera gear more manageable but if a pack can make a load more comfortable then that would be okay too. This pack would be for multi-day trips through significant elevation changes. Water resistance out of the box would be favorable too. I'm also slightly below the average male height in the US for size considerations. If you have any experience with these packs or have another you'd recommend that would be great.

Looking to Upgrade Pack

On paper, this pack still won out. Weight, load carry capacity, variable torso length and hipbelt size, cuben fiber qualities(weight, waterproof, durability), ventilated back panel are all key features that in conjunction with eachother make this pack stand out against the rest. 

The ventilated mesh back panel is a must for me. I'm in Southern California so prevention of lava back is a big deal. If you're in a colder climate, then I can see how this isn't important. If I am hiking in winter then I'm taking my Xenith 75 where I have to carry more weight and back sweat isn't an issue (I'd never take this in warm weather)
