 So having a little bit less tail rocker makes sense to have that straighter cut to it, but we still get plenty of tip rocker, you know, this shovel has some nice splay to it, that rocker starts down about here, so great flotation out of this 106 in that backcountry snow. So yeah, if you're looking for something that will handle, you know, deeper snow in the backcountry and you're looking for that wider option for your touring ski, I think this Hannibal 106 makes a great choice.  Definitely more of that touring specific ski rather than a hybrid or 50-50 that we see

 I would put this certainly more in the more touring specific category.

 In that realm, it works great, super light, Pallonia Woodcore, we get Fisher's Carbon

 Tex technology in this ski, so they use a blend of different carbon stringer kind of

 applications here, so vertical, cross-hatched, they just kind of put it all in there and

 stiffen up the ski a little bit, make it more responsive without adding the weight.

 Little bit more of a throwback to the Rangers of old with a little bit of a convex shape

 to it, gives that central cord a little bit more stability and power.

 And then in terms of sidewalls, it's mostly this top sheet, blue top sheet is I would

 say most of the cap, mostly cap construction here, between my fingers there is that sidewall,

 but it does taper to full cap in the tips and tails, you know, you don't really need

 that sidewall material there, especially for a 106 in the backcountry, so that kind of

 lightens the load, makes it a little bit more flexible and pliable for that soft snow.

 But the main reason there is weight reduction, so removing that sidewall material does make

 quite a difference and then just capping it at the ends makes a lot of sense for this

 But that half cap in the middle does give a good amount of edge grip underfoot with

 the sidewall without jeopardizing agility or quickness.

 We put this thing on the scale here, this is the 171, we're looking at 1432 grams on

 the scale right now, so definitely on the light side, you know, it's below that kind

 of 1500 gram threshold that we talk about for touring applications and for a 106, you

 know, just having more mass and more volume in the ski, that's a pretty impressive weight.

 We do have Fischer's skin pin technology here, so you can put that Fischer skin in there,

 Definitely an awesome wider choice for backcountry skiing, deep snow, accessible terrain, but really kind of more on the backcountry and touring spectrum versus an inbounds powder ski. Although, you know, with the advancement in this alpine touring segment, you definitely do get better performance making these skis really well rounded and versatile. You know, if you have more of that hybrid binding on it, you can use them in the resort, but really they're better suited for backcountry and fresh snow. Starting with the construction, they do have a Polonia wood core

 You know, as these get wider, they do lose a little bit of that 4F stiffness, but this one's still got a good flex to it, going to give you good energy. Extremely light as a result, 1540 grams per ski here in the 178, and it's just, you know, when you pick up something this big and it's this light, it's just impressive, and you know it's going to be easy on the uphill. It's a little bit on the wider side for, you know, the touring application, just from a skinning standpoint, but when you get to the top, you're going to get much better flotation than on a narrower ski, really makes it all worth the while, you know, when you're at the top of a big mountain and you have something this wide on your feet, and it's going to keep you afloat. That is a nice feeling

On the 22 meter turn radius on this ski as well, so a little bit straighter of a cut, we see that more often in the touring skis, just because it's easier to skin on, as well as when you get to those big mountains and wide open terrain, the ski isn't as hooky or as grabby, it doesn't want to pull you across the fall line, putting more emphasis on the skier and their ability and desire to make a certain shape turn. We do get some pretty dramatic rocker on this ski, especially in the tail, I'm sorry, the shovel, some decent camber underfoot for edge grip for when the conditions are sketchy, you definitely want to have that camber for, you know, holding on tight, but we do see that rocker profile starting well below the taper line here, and then going up and pretty dramatic splay at the top here
