Horrible battery life, fussy battery doors that break easily, questionable accuracy (both that I own show too much power). PowerMeterCity.com is a wonderful, knowledgeable resource, I highly recommend spending a bit more for a good crank power meter like Power2Max or Quarq. If that doesn't work I'd like at those Favero Assioma pedals, that's what I would have bought if they made some that were SPD compatible

Good power meter suggestions

 The peloton obviously measures power on its own as well. I did a few rides and there seemed to be a big difference in the wattage I was producing on the peloton vs on the bike.

I recently got a peloton and favero assioma duo power meter pedals. I bought the pedals so I can compare my effort levels across 3 different ride types: peloton while watching kids, steel bike while towing kids, and aluminum bike while wife watches kids. The peloton obviously measures power on its own as well. I did a few rides and there seemed to be a big difference in the wattage I was producing on the peloton vs on the bike

 And then in regards to installation, it's super easy. You'll install these just like pretty much any other pedal on the market using an eight millimeter Allen wrench, making sure to include the pedal spacer, which actually is included, so the pod doesn't rub up against your crank arm. From here, you'll register the pedals from within the smartphone app, and then you'll want to do a zero offset to ensure the most accurate power numbers. And in regards to power accuracy, I compared these to other sources that have proven to be reliable and accurate, including the Tacx Neo 2, the Wahoo Kickr Core, as well as the recently released Wahoo Kickr Bike

 They're priced very competitively, they've got a nice suite of features, and most importantly, they're pretty darn accurate when it comes to power, and they've remained accurate over the last 11 or so months that I've used them. Favero Assioma Power Meter Pedal In-Depth Review

 They've got tension adjustment on the back here. You can adjust both the pedals, mine are set up fairly low, which would probably mean that if you like them really tight, that would be absolutely no problem. The springs on the back, again, look really good, no wear, no anything, no problems with that at all. Compared to the Vectors, these use a rechargeable battery, which is, you have a cable which connects up to them there, whereas the Vectors, you have to add LR44 replaceable batteries

 They're really easy to set up. I like that they've got an Allen key mount, makes it easy for me to swap between the bikes. That's a big difference against the Vectors. The Vectors have got a pedal spanner, which if you're not swapping between bikes, maybe that's not such a big deal, but for me, this is really good

 In terms of as a power meter, when I initially got these, I also had Vector 3S and Cyclops power meter, also the single sided to test as a group test. All three were quite accurate, or at least they gave the same readings as each other on a test I did. But what I don't have is a quark or an SRM, which you'd want to test it against to test the accuracy. They claim 1%, but to be honest, I don't think that really makes any difference

 The biggest thing with power meters and what you want is for them to be consistent. So it doesn't matter if they're 10 watts over, 20 watts under, or anything like that, as long as when you're riding these, you get the same power meter reading each time, because otherwise there's just no point having anything that's all over the place. But these have been absolutely brilliant. When you go out, you know that the power meter reading that it shows is consistent with what you tend to get

 Usability/Accuracy: Inclusion of both ANT+ and Bluetooth is welcome, to support pairing with both phones and indoor trainers...the former being useful if you don't have a dedicated cycling computer but want to pair the pedals to something like the Strava iPhone app to track your rides and power data

I use these pedals on my outdoor road bike, as well as a road bike on an indoor trainer. I've easily put 3000 miles on them, and have had literally no issues with it dropping out during a ride, or any other sort of glitch with respect to tracking power (and cadence!), whether paired to my Garmin Edge 520 Plus (when outside) or Zwift (when inside).  Will need more time in saddle to get a better feel for how to best utilize the data. Initial install was easy, but pairing and utilization in the apps had a few tricks that required a couple of web searches. For the most part the pedals require calibration to occur with an app like Wahoo to be utilized without a bicycle computer. I will revisit this review after a few months of true usage

 First things first, the old Spyder, let's just move that out of the way. The old Spyder, obviously the power meter, that was 50 grams. 50 grams. Whereas the actual Spyder from Power to Max, 160 like we put in that earlier video

 Now, the Power 2 Max Type S, the battery is kept in here, this sort of lump. This sits just about flush with the crank, so I've never had an issue with my foot hitting this at all. It uses one of these batteries. You can see that

 Now this unit here, the Cannondale version, weighs about 185 grams. So you're shoving 185 grams on your bike. You know, it's not the end of the world, but there are lighter power meter systems out there. However, like I say, the trade-off is this thing just works

 So, that's the first plus point. The battery lasts fucking forever. Second really good point, I've had absolutely no issues at all with creaking. It's not come loose at all

I have had some Vector 3s in the past and basically I had to send them back because they were useless and didn't work so I wouldn't buy the Garmin Raleigh XC pedals just yet maybe for my next power meter for my mountain bike I will look at the pedal based power meter but not yet and I'll give it another 16 months or so before my Power2Max fails again. It's been through water, it's basically been through normal mountain bike activities, so it does need to be a robust unit. It works in the cold, it works in the heat, it's temperature regulated, so it should be consistent no matter what the weather, and of course it's also waterproof. So now what you've been waiting for, or not, the cons

 It's worked well for those 16 months and I have got a replacement as you've seen a crash replacement it could have should have been under the warranty robustness is a question mark and so is the battery cover but it's been accurate it's been fit and forget and I'm very happy that I've got it back on my bike because I know it's accurate and I know it'll work well. Now I would have put value for money in the pros but I think the price of the Power2Max has gone up I think it was about eight or nine hundred dollars in Australia when I bought it maybe 400 or so US dollars and now it's about eleven hundred dollars Australian and 590 I think US dollars so the value for money has gone down it's equivalent now to the Garmin Raleigh XC100 so if you want to buy some Garmin pedals power pedals then you can get them for the same price.  The unit that I've tested on the bike this week is the Road NG Eco, which I will call the NG-Co. NG standing for Next Generation, which is released a few years ago now. Eco, I believe, stands for Economical, because this is the trimmed down version of the NG model on features and on price. The specific version that I have is a 110 BCD 4-bolt rotor crank compatible version, which I match with Shimano Dura-Ace chainrings, with a claimed weight of the spider itself, the NG-Co, of 158 grams
