They give a little at first and only once you press all the way down does it audibly click the little SL and SR buttons on the joycons. This doesn't make the joycons have a real trigger (AKA one where you could tailor the amount of input you're putting into, say, a racing game in order to accelerate at different rates. I got these due to hand cramping as an adult playing with a single joycon but also because my young nieces and nephews were having trouble remembering how to hold the joycon horizontally which was messing with their controls of the game. My hope is that these grips will help them hold the controller correctly, helping them improve their video game skills and confidence as I babysit them! These are very comfortable. Smooth matte finish on the plastic, and the joycons slip in snugly but easily. I would trust my nieces and nephews to use these by themselves, where I do not trust them to attach the standard black wrist straps themselves
