but looks like no matter how many times i tried, i always can't get the hang on how to make a turn properly (when to release acceleration button/ when and how to hit the brake), always will go off track if too fast, or being way way too slow to not get off track. my car will be uncontrollable because i can't handle the turn properly, especially if it's a sharper turn. i tried various games over the years, need for speed, GT sport, asetto corsa comp, F1 2020, and most recently forza horizon 5, dirt. all the same result, quite frustrated because i really want to enjoy playing racing games

r/SimRacing Super Thread 2 | A one-stop guide for new and veteran sim racers

Be aware that F1 2020 plays horribly on a wheel with the default configuration. It’s not a bad game, you just need to go into the settings and adjust the figure for ‘wheel rotation’ down to something like (IIRC) 540 degrees. To test if you’ve got the right number, just go into cockpit view and see if the driver’s hands and arms match the position of your own. Adjust as needed and repeat

WELCOME BACK TO APERTURE LABORATORIES
 In Portal 2 players awake in the Aperture Science Labs as Chell, the heroine of the original game. A great expanse of time has passed since the conclusion of the first game and the gameworld has fallen into visible disrepair, but placed in suspended animation, Chell has survived intact and is revived. With the help of a robotic entity the concluding events of the past game are revealed and you escape your initial confinement, but in doing so GLaDOS, the the AI computer antagonist from the previous game is also reawakened. Just as fickle as ever, GLaDOS' motives are unknown. Insisting on testing you, it may assist you but may also be planning something more sinister. 

GAMEPLAY
 Like the original game, Portal 2 is a first-person Platform-Puzzle game. In the single player campaign players assume the role of Chell, a former test subject trying to gain her freedom from the Aperture Science facility and GLaDOS, the AI controller of the facility. Set in the test chambers of the facility your goal is to make your way through the game levels using your portal gun (the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device). The portal gun creates temporary passages through solid surfaces, allowing for creative platforming and multiple possible means of clearing a level. The game also requires the player to solve puzzles at times to clear sections of levels. In addition to point-to-point movement through portals, players can also utilize other means of movement of themselves and various objects. These include: using the momentum of portal movement to make jumps to open positions like ledges; tractor beams; and special propulsion/repulsion gels that can be carried or stored. 

NEW COOPERATIVE MODE
Portal 2 contains a multiplayer option in the form of a two-player co-op mode. This is playable both locally and online, with split-screen functionality available in local play and in select places during online play. Players assume the role of one of two robotic characters, Atlas or P-body, both new to the franchise. These two have separated from the control of GLaDOS and so must survive its anger, divvied out in the form puzzles, obstacles and misdirection. Each player has control of their own portal gun, which they use to platform through the game levels, avoiding its dangers and relying on each other.

ADDITIONAL SCREENSHOTS

  Update - The program has stopped working altogether and I am getting a cryptic error from Steam. I will not by another product from Steam again and Amazon should require this company to actually allow you to install the software from the disc. Otherwise, there is no point in buying it from Amazon .

 None of these errors helped me determine what the problem was. For example, one error was "out of disc space" despite having plenty of free disk space. Another error was "don't have administrator rights" when I had administrator rights. Finally, I gave up and downloaded Steam from the main website

Good game, but installation was a nightmare.

 Instead I feel like I just got more Portal, one test chamber and then another, despite some clever attempts to make it seem otherwise. Hopefully Portal 3 will change things up.  On the graphics front Portal 2 uses Valve's Source Engine again and looks about as good as Half-Life 2: Episode 2 or Left 4 Dead. Some of the later sections really show off some large environments and cool design, but for the most part the game sticks close to the test chamber look of Portal

 From what I can tell your time with the campaign will vary greatly based on how easy you find the puzzles and for me personally I found them rather easy. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, overly hard puzzles may have annoyed me or made the game feel even more dragged out, which would have been a shame. In any event even at 6 hours I felt like the game pushed its concept a little long, so 6 hours is nothing to be mad about. Just judge the price you want to pay accordingly

  On the graphics front Portal 2 uses Valve's Source Engine again and looks about as good as Half-Life 2: Episode 2 or Left 4 Dead. Some of the later sections really show off some large environments and cool design, but for the most part the game sticks close to the test chamber look of Portal. The PC version is perfectly done as one would expect of Valve, my only gripe with it being the very frequent and immersion-breaking loading screens. It's a really annoying blunder from an otherwise near-perfect development team to have a loading screen break up the action in a really jarring way repeatedly over the life of the game

The game is amazing, it is actually one of my favorite games to date and even high rated custom maps from the steam workshop are amazing. Co-op is actually pretty good when you are partnered with someone who actually wants to complete the levels and it sometimes takes a while to find a partner and either sometimes the servers fail to connect or the person from the other end disconnects or something but it is all about trial and error but it is preferred to play with an actual friend. And even better the game supports co-op on a single PC using a controller which not many games do now days.  The main reason why I gave it 3 stars is because of the hideous box design that EA try to implement in the "EA classics" line

For those who have played Portal 1, you will not be surprised by a lot of Portal 2. This isn't bad considering the first game had a lot of great stuff to offer.  Portal 2 does have enough new content to be worth your while none the less. New maps, additional tools for solving portal puzzles (such as various types of goo), and best of all a multi-player component!  The multi-player option places tons of emphasis on teamwork, making it one of the best multi-players ever

 It's still a unique game in the scheme of the gaming world.  I only removed 1 star because of a seemingly useless option revolving around props you can decorate your characters with. I'm not against such features, but Valve has these items priced in real $$, encouraging spending on virtual nik-naks that don't benefit the user in any way.  I don't enjoy seeing companies try to profit so blatantly, and I have higher standards for this particular developer

A little bit of new and a lot of fun!

 The level design is great and the later levels have a more "open" feel since you're not just stuck in a white room the entire time. The addition of the various "gels" gives a whole new aspect to the puzzle solving. I don't want to give any spoilers so I cannot be much more specific, but all I can say is I highly recommend this game. If you loved the first Portal you will like this one even more

Aborable, Puzzling, Playful, etc...

.and when I finally did I quickly realized why everyone said it was such a great game. Portal 2 did not disappoint as it really built upon the elements that made the original great, but there are a few things keeping it away from a "5-star" rating.  Graphics ----------------------- This game utilizes Valve's Source 3D engine, which is a solid choice for making a first-person game such as Portal 2

  That being said, I feel that the game would have become tedious if it were any longer, and to extend the gameplay time to something more reasonable like 20-30 hours, they would need to add more elements to it than simply solving puzzles. Perhaps Portal 3 will add some RPG-like elements that let you "gear up" your character and thus extend the playable game-time without making the extended time feel dull.  Final Thoughts ----------------------- Just about everybody can enjoy this game. The characters are great and the game itself is engaging so you feel motivated to keep solving the puzzles and making it to the next level

but you don't need to be a mathlete to succeed. If you're uneducated or simple-minded then this game is probably going to frustrate you and cause you to give up; but for those of you who outpace inanimate objects when it comes to intellect - you are going to have a blast with Portal 2! On average I would say the puzzles are deceptively simple and sometimes tricky - so they are well designed to provide a level of enjoyment to both smart people and morons alike. I had to think a little to solve a few of them, I admit.

 In addition to the portal gun and cubes, Portal 2 introduces three types of gels that add a new twist to some of the later levels. They also added a laser-refracting cube, light bridges and energy transport tubes. These additions definitely make the puzzles more interesting and the game does well to introduce you to these elements without overwhelming you, so you know how to use them right.  The biggest thing keeping me from giving it 5-stars is the short play time of 5 hours
